I didn't know Tacoma made a Silverado model

 

Zero offense even seen. I too think a 72 month loan is a bit long...but I did either a 60 or 72 when I bought my 2010 used because the interest rate was 1.99% -0.25 member discount for 1.74%. Basically free money.
Now that same bank is offering 6.74% eesh

 

We went 48 months on the Corolla HB at 1.9% two years ago. We put a little more then 1/2 down. Since then, once a month my wife gives me the "We should pay off the car" shit. I've shown her at least 20 times the math on the interest we'll pay. I'm also paying more then needed monthly so it'll pay off in another 10 months with a whopping $524 in interest. Still she wants it paid off just because she hates debt and get emotional about it once a month. Right about the full moon. lol

 

If I could tell you how many times I've had this exact same discussion with people… The difference between low interest debt and high interest debt. Also, the reason why I was emphatic that we do not sell our home right now. shit if we had refinanced the whole boat two or 3 years ago and just put that money in a high-yield savings, the interest rate on a savings would beat the interest rate for the mortgage. I seem to recall somebody on here doing that.

 

@jandrews HELOC'd at some stupid low rate. Haven't seen him around in a while but I'm sure it's payed out well.

WOW...Hertz must have gone balls deep in the EV market thinking everyone would want to rent a vehicle that needs to charge for 10 hours before you can return it...AND if you have to drive more than 15 miles to the HERTZ return at the airport you need to STILL charge again or you get a "Not full charge" fee...
They are offering rent 1 day get 2 days free AND have an "EV vehicle myths" FAQ marketing mail they just sent out...
Nobody has the time to recharge a car before they return it...It's a failing business model...The only way they are going to get people to rent EV's is to permit them to be returned at any charge level and then block out the entire return date for charging...So for each time you rent an EV you lose 1 day of business...where right now for each time you rent and EV they are losing 2 days of business with promo...

 

I have one of those but it happens during the new moon.

 

You would need 2 EV to replace every conventional vehicles you rent. 1 to rent to the customer, and 1 to sit at the charger - charging. How could they not make money buying two more expensive vehicles to evevery one less expensive vehicle and having less vehicles to rent?

 

I refid, but didn't take any equity out. If we had we probably wouldn't have beaten the 80% LTV to drop PMI. They took our valuation without needing to verify it, so we saved on assessment. We were at about 81 or 82% with that valuation so i didn't see the benefit of HELOC or anything.

You have to charge before returning? That would be the benefit is that you return it, whatever charge, and they plug it in at the "depot" or whatever. At least that's what I'd assume.

Yea i'm with you there, and i believe trading in 1st and 2nd gens for newer stuff is gonna be one of those things where 20 years from now people are going to wonder wtf they were thinking. Like farmers now watching squarebody chevys sell for 20k knowing they let 4 of them sit in a field to rot away, or muscle cars going for high 5 figures when tons of people just sold them cause they were bad in the snow
How bad is it without power steering? You're not still driving it around like that for now?

 

I’d never buy a newer chevy. My buddy just traded his in for a ‘23 Tundra. He had. ‘19 AT4 with 60k miles and the truck wouldn’t turn off sometimes. He said it would just run for hours at times. For whatever reason the computer wouldn’t recognize it was in park. He brought it to the dealer to trade it in and prayed to God the issue wouldn’t surface while there. It didn’t and they offered 37k for it. Best part is he still had On star notifications with it and 3 days later he gets a text saying a critical issue was detected in the engine and transmission and to bring it in for immediate service.

I got mine at 84,000 miles
Motor needed a rebuild at 104,000 miles
That lasted til 115,000 miles and then caught fire
Now it has a built 6.2 that better survive or I’ll drive it into the gorge

 

The Tacoma has been broken so long I had to buy the Silverado just to have something to drive….

The 20 grand I paid my PI to bust my adulterous ex-wife. That evidence cost her somewhere between 250 and 300,000 in the settlement that stayed with me instead. That dude was at least a 10 bagger.

No. I have another car. It's really bad. Like driving old school. But since the wheel is configured for power steering you not only have to use strength to turn it, it only moves the wheels about 1/2 the rotation you expect from the steering wheel movement. I was toying with disconnecting the power from the power steering motor to stop it from running on its own. You really can't be driving down windy roads and I would worry about having to emergency swerve

 

Maybe if they'd just price their stuff on what's really worth in the first place. Like half of what they're asking.
