Love my SA tailgate cover. I've been pretty rough on mine, and it's survived well.

Changed my oil today. Last oil change was done at the dealership. I needed a 2 foot cheater bar to get the filter loose.

I needed a 2ft pipe to get my plastic filter housing loose too...I did the last oil change and I know I did not gorilla tighten it!

I hand-tightened it this time and replaced with an aluminum housing and have no leaks!

Just finished installing the remote tailgate lock. I know I read it someplace on TW but I have to agree. It takes WAY longer to route the cable and zip tie them into place. Nothing about the install was difficult and you don't need to even jack up the truck. For those on the fence, just do it!

Did this today as well. Agree with everything you said. It did freak me out a little bit when I was doing the zip ties. It locked automatically and I was like wtf! Anyway, I guess the unplugging of the locks resets it to the default 60 second auto lock setting. Fixed it through the radio.

Installed a tailgate lock and bed lights today, I guess that was the thing to do today. Then I set there with the mud guards in my hand trying to convince myself I really do like them, maybe next weekend.

The mud guards are so quick and easy you could do them in the dark in about 20 minutes. I did mine at the dealership before I left the lot.

    Hurry! There's still time!

Added the Amazon skid plate. I can understand why people have issues installing. Bolt order is important but for the price and protection it fits the bill.

Replaced front bump stops with poly bushings

I'd heard the bolts were laid out wrong. Once those are fixed, how is it? Did everything line up correctly?

i dont know if that was the issue the instructions werent clear on the bolt locations. the way it worked out Middle are the longest bolts and spacer, the rest are easy to guess. The middle pair of bolts are in holes that are not elongated once i used those as a guide the perimeter (front and back) all worked out. i tried the perimeter first which are elongated but found it impossible to get the middle bolts to thread. The bolts also suck, the oem bolts you take out have a narrower nose that helps you line up the threads and these dont.

I guess the two most important follow up questions are 1. how long did it take to install and 2. would you do it again? I want to order it and install it at my first oil change but have been hesitant because of some reviews.

    1. it took me 2 hours + and that was switching bolts and spacers mixing and matching. Pre threading the bolts in the holes (this made it alot easier when it came time to tighten them down. 2. Yes, now that i understand how to do it i think i can have it done in 45 minutes. Its pretty thick and compared to the stock one is alot beefier. My wife bought it for me for my birthday yesterday.
