So recently I watched a video comparing if 10K kilometers of highway driving, vs someone who lived in city traffic.

Surprisingly one looked as black as night compared to other one.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bvj2d5fguQ

    Comparison is at 8:15

This leaves a question, should you change oil every 3K miles if you live in a heavy traffic area?

Compared to in a country where there is barely any traffic.

Where I live, it takes me 2 hours almost to get to work, while if I leave at early morning its 20 minutes... So I consider this large amount of traffic sitting for my engine

Hey, maybe this will be the thread where the oil change frequency and brand debate will be settled once and for all.

    Hey, it could happen.

I change my oil once a year whether it's 10k miles, or 6k miles. Use a good synthetic, and stop whining.

No one is whining, if you don't like the thread ignore it and go back to feeding chickens in your truck bed.

Not all are diesel, the video is about in general. I do believe he is sitting in land cruiser prado though, which yes is diesel.

I didn't think there was much doubt that stop-n-go city traffic was harder on everything about an engine thatnhighway miles. Not just the engine, but the transmission, brakes and everything. I wish there were an easy way to document engine hours and factor that into when to change oil. Some vehicles with 5000 miles on them could easily have double the amount of engine hours compared to one with 10,000 miles.

10k km equals to about 6k miles , 3k mile oil changes is a bit excessive.Just leave really early so you can drive only 20 minutes, Or trade it it in for a hybrid. The manual does say do early changes when hauling , off-roading, and idling is involved.

No brainer, you should leave early and save 1 hour & 40 minutes of driving.... Think of your Oil....
