There’s a lot to be said for comfort as you get older.

I'm not particularly concerned with your assumptions about my goals here.

Unfortunately, the used market is beyond screwed so you can't get a good deal on a commuter car anymore. I traded in my 2016 Corolla with 37k miles on it for $9k in 2019, but you couldn't buy it today for that even if it had 120k miles on it.

I just want to know the MSRP and MPG of the 4th gen in the trim I want so I can finally do all the math to see if I can make it make sense lol. Gotta keep my emotions in check with logic so I don't run in and impulse buy. The 4th gen is truly the truck I was waiting for (without knowing what I'd see) when I bought my WRX to wait out the final years of the 3rd gen. Really hoping to see 24-25 MPG highway in the non-hybrid version

Has anyone yet compared the engine specs of the G4 Taco to the Lexus 550?

    Lexus 550
    3.4L V6 twin-turbo
    349 hp
    479 lb-ft.

    G4 Taco iForce Max
    2.4L I4 turbo w/ 48 HP electric augmentation
    326 hp
    465 lb-ft.

Very similar specs. Presumably, the Taco will weigh less. I'd be willing to bet that the one spec that matters: power-delivered-to-the-road-to-mass-ration will be won by the Taco.

Pfffftt. What’s that around 125K miles? That’s nothing.

To anybody who *really* thinks the turbo is going to blow: why are you in the 4th Gen Tacoma (2024+) thread to begin with?

Engines with turbos are more complex than engines with out turbos. Turbo engines with hybrid assist motors are more complex than turbo engines with out hybrid assist motors. I think Toyota would agee with that.

    OK...

The vehicles of today are orders of magnitude more complex than the vehicles of the 70’s and 80’s. Yet, they last 4x (or more) as long.

Do they last longer? That has yet to be proven. I can't think of any examples of all original equipment turbo engines out lasting all original equipment normally aspirated engines.

Do you listen to yourself talk lol . The way you talk the turbos are going on these engines before 100 thousand km. If the lasts 10 years and over 200 thousand kms I'm happy

That’s really not impressive. Every vehicle currently made should have no problem hitting 125K miles.

I'd expect 23 at a minimum, the Colorado is rated at that.

If the new Land Cruiser is rated at 27 combined with the iForce Max, then the Tacoma would be similar I think. The Tundra and Sequoia are both rated for 24 highway

Walking is less complex, I think Toyota would agree with that.

Toyota's solution for those who think turbos are to complex (hard to make money selling the concept of walking).
