Would it be best to replace the bolts with SS from the hardware store or use what comes in the kit? I've seen some say they ordered the OEM bolt kit which is like 60 bucks!

i think running them in the holes before fixes the feeling that you might be cross threading and makes it go smoother (atleast it did for me) You can choose to buy the hardware but i dont think its necessary.

Bought the OEM Toyota remote tailgate lock from BAM and it's sitting in the box in the house. Screwed up my knee so it may be awhile.

I will say, all of the tailgate work was done standing up. The wiring part in the passenger kick panel was done standing up. Everything else can be done on a creeper. Either way, sorry about your knee. Since you're in CA you can do it whenever. Here in the Midwest we're running out of good days.

I agree. The hardest part for me was getting the new grommets in the tailgate and body for the new wires to run through. (Big fingers and small spaces don't mix well!) I had my kit for probably 9 months before I installed it, wish I would have done it when I bought the truck new in '16!

No more needing the key to lock/unlock tailgate, what a pain! It's the simple things that aggravate me the most.

I was planning to get the tailgate remote lock from BAM but decided to check my local dealer. Dealer won out because they offered free shipping. Ordered it last Tuesday evening and the dealer Door Dashed it to my house Wednesday. Got there at 9 AM. I was impressed! I also ordered a OEM bed mat from BAM. Something I found out is that BAM also sells the mat on eBay with free shipping. Ordering direct would've been an additional $40.

I was somewhat on the fence about installing mudguards on my truck, but put them on and glad I did. I like the looks of them, and they keep a lot of the rocks from hitting the truck body panels. Like others have said, quick easy install, no drilling, so if you put them on and don't like them, easily removed. I think you'll like them once installed unless you've done some mods where tires would rub. My truck is all stock so no rubbing issues.
