That's how all the old paddle boat steamers worked. They only caught fire infrequently, like Ford Pintos.

Worked on the snow blower a bit today to assess what it's going to need.
Pulled the starter to find the engine model and serial number.
    20231022_153919.jpg
Then sprayed it down with simple green and pressure washed it with my harbor freight pressure washer.
    20231022_163008.jpg
Looks better, nicer to work on a clean machine.
    20231022_163027.jpg
Starter is toast, grinds and squeals like a pig and the starter pinion is missing a tooth. New Chinese one on ebay is $65. I can live with that.
    20231022_163908.jpg
Some parts I'll get on ebay, some from the mower shop. Belts looked good believe it or not, someone must have changed get them. It could use a new drive rubber disc. And a set off axle bushings. One auger bearing, a scraper bar and bolts. And I'll go with plastic skid shoes. Pulled the float bowl to see how it looked. Was clean, either the carb has been rebuilt or replaced as it has a plastic float. I may just throw a rebuild kit in it. Bowl nut/jet gasket was chewed up. It's not horrible but it does need some parts and I will get what I can and fix it up. K ly one that I'm worried about is the axle bushings, hope I can still get them for a 40 year old machine.
I also printed off a owners manual and parts breakdown of the net.

Yeah I agree. Motor was a 79 made for the 1980 model snowblower. 1979 blowers where orange and white, changed to orange and black in 1980.

When I was a kid my parents would visit some retired friends who lived up north. They had an Airens snowblower, never saw one before, everyone used shovels. Funny thing was all their neighbors had one as well. They may have been the only ones who made snow blowers back in the sixties.

No Harley, I like to ride them not wrench on them.....:bikewheelie:

I generally ride year round provided the road surface is clear of snow, ice, or ridiculous amounts of salt and cinders. Personal record of 680 consecutive days riding on the street with a 10 mile per day minimum and I live in south central PA. Yamaha FJR1300 is my bike of choice but I still have the 1995 Buell S2 Thunderbolt in my avatar and a 1977 Honda CB400F Super Sport with antique tags and light restoration work.

Somehow I suspect it's not likely I'll ever stop unless my health forces it to happen. I think sometimes it's the only thing that keeps me out of therapy. I've logged a bit over 18k miles so far this year. I'm considering trying to get a spot in the 2025 Iron Butt Rally if I can. That would mean upwards of 11k miles in just 11 days crisscrossing the US and parts of Canada.

My old bike, sitting in my buddies basement. I sold it to his older brother, and my buddy inherited it when his brother passed. 69 BMW R50. I called it the sewing machine.
My mistake, that’s not my old bike, one that he just bought, picture is 20 years old. Need to find a picture of my old bike. I think he was trying to sell it to me, come on.:D

I gave serious thought to buying one of the R100 final editions models. I think it was the RS? It had the really aerodynamic fairing and hard bags, most were in a pearl white if memory serves me. Have quite a few friend on BMWs.
