Well the bad news is I woke up sick today. The good news is I woke up sick before I met up with y'all and got y'all all sick. This also means no camping @fatfurious2 but thanks for the invite

Random Question for the group. Just took my wife’s suv that was rear ended to an auto body shop in Fairfax that was recommended by the insurance company. They repainted the tailgate and there are runs on the paint, the badge that was on the bottom left is now on the middle right side and the lift gate strut is making a loud noise when opening and closing. They also used Bondo on the bumper instead of replacing all together. On an angle you can see the slight dimples from where the gouge marks were. And, my wife is almost certain they stole her sunglassss —- although I am not in the business of accusing people without irrefutable evidence.

Unfortunately my wife signed for the car and closed out with this shop and I didn’t notice until I got home from work an hour later. The car is 13 years old but was in mint condition. I was looking to sell it and even though the accident will be on carfax (and I’m seeking diminished value from insurance) it is pretty apparent to anyone with a close eye that the repair was shoddy.

given that we already paid the auto body with the insurance check, what recourse, if any, do I have? Hoping to talk to them tomorrow and have an adult conversation, but worried they will tell me to F off…. Or if they do fix it, I go without a car for another week and have to pay for a rental.

I know this was more of a rant than a question, but any thoughts on how to proceed would be appreciated.

I forgot my sleeping bag, but my down blanket was perfect. I think the low was 44?

 

Does the body shop have any kind of warranty for their work? At a minimum I would go back and see if they will make it right.

I grew up in Northern Virginia, studied in Richmond, and spent several years living in NYC once my career began. I live in the Pacific Northwest right now. Just dropping in to say hello

 

He's making it right. I think he thought he could pass this off and we wouldn't notice since the car is 13 years old. While I appreciate him making it right, I will definitely not be going back there ever again.

 

We may be headed that way for the national parks in the next year or two. Glacier and then the Washington State NP's.

 

So how is Friday looking for everyone? One solid maybe so far.
