A lot of mine was spent learning to turn wrenches on friends cars, 1969 Mustang with a 351 Windsor transplant, 1970 Roadrunner 383, 1970 GTX with a 440, and more cool toys that at that time went for cheap but are now worth a small fortune. Video games at that time were in their infancy and my parents didn't have cable tv so I got to watch the major networks only.

Yeah... I don't even have that.

I've been practicing wheelies a street over because while my neighbors are cool with me practicing, there are way too many cars parked on the sides that I don't want to get near to so I go to a less crowded street. Yesterday a guy was walking his dog and came over and said his neighbor wanted to call the cops on me. The guy said he was confused as to why as I wasn't bothering anyone and no one else cared but since popping wheelies are "illegal" he wanted to call the cops.

So now I'm looking for a different place to practice but there are almost zero lots around here that I can ride the Grom to.

Yeah I had no idea the big aftermarket / modding community on these things in other parts of the world. Bitchin 2 stroke pipes. big bore kits etc etc. Its going to be hard for me to not

EVERYTHING in CA that TOUCHES the street needs to be registered to be legal. Even a 49cc Moped now has to pay yearly registration, which means you need to carry insurance (otherwise you get a nasty letter from the DMV saying they will pull your registration), and you have to have a motorcycle license. (it used to be a 16 dollar permanent license plate with only a need for a standard drivers license)

That stated... these were never registered in the states. So I wont be registering them. Just going to fix them up maybe ride around the neighborhood and sell them for a few hundred bucks to someone who wants cheap transportation around the city "riding dirty" in the eyes of the state. (which im perfectly fine with.... CA gets way to much money for stuff like this).

Interesting! Am I wrong in remembering that 49cc and less used to not need an M1?

Get a Grom! I've fallen off mine a lot and I just go straighten the bars and it's good to go again.

The size of the DRZ was always intimidating for me to try and wheelie tbh.

Pullmans a little city in the middle of a giant wheat field, we have space for days. But funnily enough, this was taking in the middle of campus. @Calamity_taco wasn't far off, it's on a path going to an observatory up on a hill. Just barely on the downhill side of a crest pointed up the hill gave me a huge background to work with. Only a little illegal getting there haha also RIGHT next to the WSU police department, luckily it was a Sunday and they have like one officer on duty. I've taken a lot of pictures up on Observation Drive though, it's a nice little overlook for a lot of campus and you can get some cool backgrounds of the Palouse depending on what way you're facing.

You are correct, 49cc and under only needed a standard class C driving license. Now you need an M1.

That's kind of lame, though I guess I can see why they did it.

I know people here who ride with no license, registration or insurance and don't care. That's just crazy to me.

meh, it looks like it's in good condition. As long as the owner could prove he did the break in service at the dealership, and at 5k I'd assume at least one more basic service, I'd feel okay purchasing if everything seemed copacetic upon meeting.

This. Of course if you will only take it to the dealership you will bankrupt yourself. But if you can work on it yourself, or have a trusted shop you use, it won't be much more for the most part.

Though some parts are astronomically overpriced for no apparent reason...Fork seal kit on my yamaha cost $30, while the fork seal kit for my BMW cost $220 lol.

Yeah the bike really prefers the quickshifter once you're moving. I really only use the clutch when the bike is getting warmed up, or moving from a stop lol. Feels lazy but that's my privilege I guess.

Odd on the starting issue. I never had one problem starting my bike except for when the stator went out mid-ride.

lol def not inspiring but mine's been very trusty. I trust it to start more than i do my YZ250f within 5-10 kicks.

Also not sure if I updated, but the YZ is pretty much fixed up now. Apparently those model years (2014-2016) are just generally tough to start, but we did a compression test, tested the fuel pump pressure which was perfectly in spec, pulled it out, replaced all seals and gave it a good cleaning. Valves still perfectly in spec as well, pretty much have done an entire top end without replacing the piston, which I feel would be prematureas the bike only has 60 hours, and I feel it would be pretty noticeable if that was a problem. Hoping to take it out this coming weekend to test it out.

i can confirm, I am an addict and I have no plans to recover.
