    Thanks for this thread!
In addition to many head gaskets/oil leak and frame rust, now there are rusted fuel door hinges.

I just did the gas door on my 3rd gen and it was Prity much the same way. cost me on $45. FOOTNOTE: don't trip over the fuel hose while your pumping gas and slam the handle into the door!

On the later Tacomas without an access panel in the box you can remove the black plastic surround attached with 4 large screws that surrounds the fill pipe. You will then be able to access the back of the body panel to secure 2 new bolts to affix the door hinge. There is lots of room. Then reattach the filler pipe black plastic surround.

Thanks! I see that now. Oh well, too late. I used a nut/bolt with washers on the backside. I tried a well nut that was too small and gave up. Lol. Guess I’ll just keep this thing nicely lubed so I don’t have to spend the $80 for parts, paint and hardware .

Hey guys - dealing with this issue on my 2017 AC...can anyone send me the part number I'll need for replacement? All the part numbers I've seen look like 2nd gen, and I'm not sure if there's a difference. thank you!

I’ve got all the parts, everything painted ready to go…and man I’m having a hell of a time drilling out these rivets. Am I missing something? Do I need some special bit? Feels a bit like I’m mutilating the truck

All I can say is really go as slow as you can with it. Take your time and make sure you’re using the best size drill bit for the job, otherwise you’ll do what I did and overdrill them. Then you won’t be able to find a rivet that will fit it. Just take your time and do it slow and it will work fine.

It’ll probably mesh a little better once you wash it

Being busy (OK, lazy) I got one from paintedoemparts.com. About $110 incl shipping. They match orig colors. By VIN or paint code. It looks good and am about to install it. Thanks for the great instructions.

Just replaced mine. Took me about 30 minutes to do it. Used a center punch to push the old rivets out and then with a 7/32 drill bit took off the shank. Decided to leave it the black primer color because matching the paint wouldn’t be that easy and rather have it black than the color not matching.

I used https://www.paintedoemparts.com/ and they matched the color based on the color code. Looks solid, but haven't installed it yet. (the zip ties are holding and have been lazy...)
