When the drum are running the trucks are parked 3 deep at the Point. You have 40-50 guys standing shoulder to shoulder throwing 8-10 ounces of lead with 12-13ft rods. Depending on which way the current is running everybody has to constantly shift left or right. No rod spikes, everybody holds the rod in their hands. I generally avoid the point and find fish elsewhere. They catch huge drum there though.

You’re down here? I just got back to the house. I got hammered by a wave getting this one on the sand and got soaked.

How bad were the bugs? It's on my bucketlist but the couple of guys I know who went said the bugs were miserable.

bugs only got me once, when we ate dinner on shore. it was awful. not mosquitos. a "noseeum" type of biting fly. took 10 days at home for the bite areas to quit itching.

out on the water, daytime. none. I was told the tannic water keeps the mosquitos at bay.

Forgot to post from my trip a few weeks ago. This was the most memorable lol. Felt this one fighting super weird. Pulled it out and it had a stringer in its mouth lmao. Not only that but I hooked it by the stringer. I think it went for my mini jig and got the stringer caught on it instead.

    20231012_144331.jpg

Caught a ton of fish but nothing more than about a 1.5lbs. So I'll show some of the scenery instead.

What part of the Amazon were you in? What other types of fish did you catch? Would you do the trip again?
