Why not leave the blinker chrome so it works with halogen bulbs? I had a set of the cheapo headlights that had the blinker bowl blacked out and without LED blinkers it’s almost useless. I ended up switching back to stock because I didn’t like how dim the DRL were

Thanks, I just repainted the grill and front bits up front the other day to match the scoop which I did about a year ago. I pondered leaving the chrome badge or painting it black. Not sure if I made the right choice.

OME (old man emu) UCAs installed. The cab had to be unbolted and moved over for each side due to the bolt placement. The dust covers that come with the UCAs don’t fit. The screw to hold them in place is larger diameter than the zirk you remove? There was no place to clip the brake line to. Overall I think I should have done what most have done and went with light racing UCAs. Now I need to decide if I can run a 33 reasonably well without re-gearing. If I am going to regear I want to do it when I install lockers.

The blinker bowl is painted though, that’s going to lower the performance of the bulb unless it’s LED

Never had any issues, 90% of the headlights out there with the BHLM have their DRL reflectors bowls painted…even more so the ones painted/sold with a flat black bowl. Who uses incandescent bulbs nowadays anyways. :p

I have been wanting to ubolt flip for a while but figured with my cradles it was a lost cause. What archive garage kit option did you pick to achieve this?

I have been running the stage four u bolt flip kit that had the durabump and a spacer.

I took the durobump off and cut the ride rite brackets, so they sit on top of the flip kit bracket. Using the ubolt flip bracket as a template Marked and drilled the holes for my ubolts in the riderite bracket.

I mounted the ride rite bracket on top of the ubolt flip bracket inserted the ubolts torqued all down to spec (80ft pounds). Trimmed the inboard ubolts once torqued so when the cradle is installed those nuts and bolts sit flush

The hole to mount the cradle sits in-line perfect with the in board hole where the durobump was mounted -

i Dremeled the cradle so it sits over the inboard ubolts and nuts then ran the bolt for the center of the cradle through the inboard hole for the durobump on the ubolt flip bracket.

Once installed every thing lined up perfectly with the bag

Thanks! All the similar style dampers seem to have issues damaging the tailgate cable. It became more wanted lately for myself, so I gave it more thought.

My current design for the bottom bracket is a little crude, so let me refine it a bit and I'll let you both know.
The top part is attached to my bed stiffener (Total Chaos version), so the top part may need to be configured on your own if you don't have one. That portion was just drilling a couple holes in angle iron and bolting the top threaded damper mount.

The damper I bought I got from Amazon here:

That would be great! I'm definitely interested in getting a set from you. I can't weld or fabricate anything metal so I rely on people like you to help.

Cleaned my MAF sensor today and also made a small cosmetic fix to my grille emblem. I plastidipped it a couple years ago and it's held up great, however it's gotten dull and didn't match the rest of the grille insert. It's pretty insignificant but it still bugged me. I decided to take it off today and spray paint it with satin black Krylon Fusion and now it matches beautifully. I might get a different grille insert in the future but this will do for now.

    Before and after pics.

I just did the same thing two days ago. I had the scoop professionally painted a year ago. Two days ago I was visiting my buddy who is a professional painter and is the one who painted the scoop. I mentioned my grill needing it now. We ran down and bought a can of 2X in Canyon Black. He taped it up then scuffed it and sprayed it. I decided to just to shoot the chrome emblem black as well. We also did the lower valance insert and the small mesh triangles to match.

Sorry, for a repeat on this a couple pages back.

I’m wondering if I made the right choice painting the emblem black instead of leaving it chrome.

I already blacked out all the chrome emblems around the truck so I figured this would match better.

I don't think it looks bad at all. It'd definitely be an easy fix though to either replace the emblem or repaint it if you decided you didn't like it. Maybe color-matched or even an aluminum finish might look good too.

Installed these really cool Alpha Rex Headlights on my 2007 Tacoma. The only weird thing going on is that: when I get in my truck and start it, the DRL are yellow and If I hit the unlock on my remote, then start the truck, the DRL are white. Attempted several times to contact tech support at Apha Rex but "nobody home"! Never heard of anyone being able to change DRL color except for doing a wiring change. Hope running the yellow DRL will not hurt anything, I really like them better than the white.

Aluminum finish would look good, great idea. I’ll probably just leave it back though for awhile. Seems thats what most are doing these days.

Crom did something similar a few years ago, I never got around to replicating but looked easy to source parts.
