Currently driving an Audi for my work rental in Louisiana.

I am now reminded why I don't like tons of tech in cars.

Edit since I forgot to comment on the Lexus. That is pretty sweet, and now the second time Mule Expedition Outfitters has come across my radar today.

First was an Instagram video of them installing a flat tray onto a 1st gen Tacoma.
Hmmm... maybe the universe is telling me something.

Recently a co-worker asked me if I was the one with the Overlander out in the parking lot. My response was well, if you mean fancy car camping I guess so.
The rest of the conversation was about his trips to the UP in a lifted Trail Blazer he used to own and incidents of things gone wrong on said trips. He suggested that I let him know next time we are heading up north so he can tag along. Somehow I don't think he would be a fit for the group.

See, I don't meet the requirements. Guess I'm out of the Overland club before I even joined. :D

I didn't think you submerged the rear end that far. If you haven't already done it that's the perfect excuse to extend the diff breather.

Finally got some of that Tigerton and Penokee mud off. Wheels feel better. Tire rotation with 35’s is kind of an ordeal…

@Stoney Ranger has excellent taste in music! In June, he walked up a mildly technical section of trail we found while blasting Badfinger. One of my favorite songs, incidentally.

Seems like a bit of an overreaction.

I had to read through Jonathan's post twice to try to find where he was talking shit. I'm still not seeing it, though. Maybe he can elaborate on why he said the guy wouldn't fit in.

Maybe it was just a fun jab at the guy for driving a Chevy.

Or, maybe "incidents of things gone wrong" is a nice way of saying that said coworker tends to make bad decisions and break stuff. Granted, we all have made bad decisions. But, some folks are just plain reckless, and I personally wouldn't want those types on the trail with me.

Either that or maybe it was Jonathan taking (minor) issue with being called an overlander, which he correctly defined as "fancy car camping"

If I had to bet, I'd put money on "overlanding" being a term invented by REI to generate more sales of their very expensive camping gear!

It's definitely become a marketing term. Just like calling a flashlight "tactical" or using the word "tournament" or "guide" with fishing gear.

There are some words that cause trouble and should not be used. Take the N word for example….
