Ther is a lot to be said for a small dealership that works for the customer.

Good morning. All this motorcycle talk. I have owned three of them all were Kawi's. Started with a 175 single lung then a H500 triple and finally a KZ900. Liked all 3 of them but I got scared and stopped riding. In Maryland riding a motorcycle is a huge risk, our drivers are incredibly stupid and the courts back up their stupidity.

Today it will be a smoked pork shoulder. On the smoker at 6am. Dinner is at 5pm.

Tell me more about the BMW Motorcycle.

A friend in college was home for the summer and told me to stop by as she was cleaning up her VW Bug. Got over there as she was finishing up adjusting the valves, her blond hair streaked in oil. Said she needed ten minutes to get ready, uh OK. I was asking myself "Do I mention the oil in her hair". Ten minutes later, showered, washed my hair, ready to go. Hmm, I should have married her.

 

I was thinking the same thing, sans the leathers.

The Can-Am is nice but I'd be looking at the Slingshot I've talked with a couple of owners and they love them. One had a Harley trike and said he looked at the Can-Am and chose the Slingshot for easier handling for him.

I had a friend who was having balance issues and had dropped his Road King twice so he decided it was time to move to 3 wheels. He test rode the Harley trike and took it straight back to the dealership thinking there was something wrong with it as he felt the handling was so odd. Dealership mechanic took it for a quick ride and declared it normal. Steve passed on the HD, went to the Can Am dealership and test road a Spyder and put a deposit on it that day. He loved his though admitted it was different than a regular motorcycle. I have another friend who just bought a Ural with the sidecar featuring a driven wheel so it's 2 wheel drive.It's his retirement gift to himself but they're not really meant for sustained highway use at US highway speeds.

 

Can-Am has a riding school locally. I may do that in the Spring to see if I like it and how it handles. I understand braking on a turn gets a little "goofy"?

 

The Ural with the side car looks like a blast. Those are made in India? I remember the local PD (SDPD) was selling their Harley 3 wheelers way back when. But "way back then" I was usually broke!

 

I dropped my bike in front of a semi when I hit a metal spike on the road while making a turn. Man, did I get up off the road quick!

 

Ural was made in Russia but when the whole Ukraine situation started they were quick to get out. From a quick web search I found this.

Yup! That spiffy crate contains one new tailgate!

 

A couple things about the Can-Am spider it is more a motorcycle in the fact it has a seat like a motorcycle. It is made by the parent company for Ski-doo and Sea-doo. I was thinking more on the line of the Polaris Slingshot it's a side by side. There are 3 in the neighborhood it's powered by a Chevy 2.4 l Eco tec. The guys like them for its style.

 

Main issue I have with the Slingshot is that it takes up roughly the same space as a car with almost none of the safety features or carrying capacity. I do think if I lived near the beach maybe I would consider one. It would be fun to just cruise in.
