When you say they replaced the ECU, you mean they replaced the Air Injection Control Driver Module or they replaced the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or both?

Oh yes, the Air Switching Valve set is Denso. I'm trying to find out what wiring connector had the displaced pin. I think it was at the pump connection.

Looking at the Air Injection Control Driver Module, looks like PN 89581-34041 does not fit this 2015 Tacoma (if I'm looking at the correct part):
    https://autoparts.toyota.com/products/product/driver-air-injection-control-8958134041
This product fits 403 vehicle variants.
    TOYOTA : 5 models, 403 variants between 2005 and 2014

I'm not clear on how this part fits into the SAIS...

    Not sure about part numbers.

The AID essentially is responsible for controlling the Air Injection Pump and Bank 1 switching valve, it has several inputs and outputs consisting of:

    Inputs:
A main power input from the Air Pump Fuse (50A)
An Ignition input from the EFI Fuse (10A)
A constant Ground from Ground point EA
A Bank 1 Switching Valve Command signal from the PCM
    An Air Pump Command signal

    Outputs:
    Power to Air Pump
Power to Air Switching Valve (Bank 1)
    Diagnostic Signal to the PCM

As for the codes based upon what I have read in service info the PCM uses a combination of two methods to determine valve operation:

1 With the Air Pump commanded on it looks for a pressure change/pulsation when the valve is commanded open, if it sees no change/pulsation it assumes the valve is stuck closed and sets a code.

2 With the Air Pump commanded off it looks for pressure pulsations when it commands the valve open, if it sees none it assumes the valve is stuck closed and sets a code.

I'm late to this information. Is the 2015 Tacoma included in this TSB ? If so what is the number ?

There is no TSB, extended warranty, recall, etc for the SAIS on 2013+ Tacos. The TSB/extended warranty for the SAIS only covered 2012 models with the 4.0L for 10 years from date of first use or 150K miles (whichever occurs first) so all are well out of the extended warranty by now anyway.

The system was updated in 2013 to address the main issue that 2012 models had which was condensation collecting in the valves.

Interesting, guess you got lucky because per the letter is 10 years from date of first use.

Yeah. They offered to do the work a couple different times over the years, when I went in ti buy parts. Recently they called me out of the blue to offer. I reckoned this might be my last opportunity to get it done for free - I had the paperwork in hand stating the 10 year limit. It took them all day, but they got it done. Here's to hoping it doesn't fail. Ever.
