MT wont shift

turn the input shaft clockwsie . While you are turning the input shaft clockwise , turn the output shaft counter clockwise .
Are you able to do this ?

watched a video here, I pushed the rods so that they are even and I can spin the input and output shaft independently.

 

not at first, can I assume that I have everything correct once I pushed the rods

 

When turning the input shaft if you are in nuetral , the output shaft shouldnt turn .
Next , run the transmission carefully through first , back to nuetral , second , back to nuetral , third then back to neutral , 4 th then back to neutral then 5th and then back to neutral , then reverse . This can be done without the casing assembled

 

this little plastic piece fell out of the housing -- I see a pocket on the bottom right of the housing, is that where this goes? Im assuming the nozzle end facing out?

 

Look in the alluminum casing , it only fits one way

 

okay, ill watch that video again, he explains which gears are which as he is adjusting the rods. Ill do that tonight after work. Thanks again for your help. Once I shift through all the gears, is probably safe to put back inthe housing? then Ill run through again with the shift lever before putting back into the truck.

 

Yes , i beleive you are good to go .
Once you get the transmission back together , shift it through all the gears spinning the input shaft as you go .

In this first image that I circled you a gear engaged you can tell from alot of the syncro being engaged. That should be centred in between both syncros

 

It should look like this one I have circled with the hub centred between both syncros. As @gearcruncher said you should be able to spin the input and while holding the output they should spin independently. Once you reassemble, make sure that you have all your gears both by just moving the stick and by also trying to spin the input shaft with each gear engaged

 

after a couple tries and redoing gasket goop I finally figured it out. @joba27n , I understand now what you meant by shifter not in the gates. That may have been what I did -- I needed to turn the gearset counter clockwise while sliding it in - then when I straightened it out the shifter went in the pocket. After I put the gear set in, tested shifting was ok, and then when I put the housing over and tested it failed. the 3 shift rods go into holes in the housing and the bottom rod would not slide in and would get pushed back. After some experimenting I found out that if I turn the gear set on the side with the 3 rods horizontal on top then the housing would slip right on. So I put the gear set in, turned the transmission on its side, and wiggled the housing on and it worked fine. the rods must drop into a better alignment like that. transmission is together, ill put it back in tomorrow. thanks again.
