Local dealer in our parts. Its been on hold waiting for a sensor to come in as several new tacomas fell under this re-call. He paid right at $54k including tax, tags and title with the extended warranty.

People lie about how little they pay for a vehicle and exaggerate on how much they paid for their house. No way is someone getting a Pro at $54 with tax and a warranty. I'm sure he put $8,000 down to get there!

I generally prefer to leave the tax and other stuff out of any price, because it's useless info unless you're in the same area. Somebody could buy an identical truck to mine in San Diego for MSRP, just like I bought mine at MSRP, but if they quote their price plus tax it's going to be WAY higher than mine. Best way to show price for a usable comparison is to state it pre tax. I know mine was $52,XXX MSRP with the couple of factory options on it. That's what I paid. Taxes didn't really come into it because I traded so my actual tax requirement was next to nothing.

Exactly, if you check out the "prices paid" thread it's mostly useless. People list the MSRP then dealer adds which are really PIO which are on the window sticker! Dealer adds are items like window tint, running boards, etc. A window sticker is a very specific definition of what a vehicle is. Then half of them state price OTD doesn't include tax, SMH.

OTD doesn't include tax for me. I pay that separately when I get plates. I don't finance it and it's not part of the price of the vehicle.

For most people it is, and its part of the sales tactics for financing whether they are trying to sell you on payment, price BEFORE TTT and fees etc. Going into a sale with cash mentality or stating that is the best negotiator.

Price should be the vehicle selling price including a dealer fee or doc fee, and any add ons(tint, factory lift, tonneau cover) etc. And tax and reg are separate.

Fully understand OTD's meaning. I do not pay taxes out the door. I drive away, zero tax paid. Adding it to prices for comparison online is silly, because then your number only applies to people paying the same taxes. It makes price paid data useless.

No reason to lie, not my deal, not my truck, could care less if someone believes me or not. He told me the price and maybe it helps that he and the owner of the dealership are friends. He can buy 50 Pros, pay for them and not bat an eye so I believe him.

Like I said, I don't necessarily doubt it, but when asked what dealer all we got was "a local one" and you don't even list a state/province in your profile. Could 100% be true or just as easily be untrue. I have no way of knowing.

Stranger things have happened. I have no reason to doubt anymore than to believe. What would he gain by making it up? No motive really.

Think what you, what do I care. I was told by my friend what he paid and now I'm a liar. He paid a little under sticker, gets an extended warranty, got a pre COVID deal, he knows the owner of the dealership and people find it hard to believe. Let's see here, what do I get out of it. Absolutely nothing but someone calling me a liar when they don't even know themselves. I just shared what the man told me, that it nothing more and nothing less.
