    Hello beautiful community,
Should I flush or drain and refill transmission fluid? My Tacoma is 2007 four cylinder 2wd. I bought it @ 174k miles and now have 190k miles, no history of transmission fluid changes from carfax, it’s one owner. When I check the fluid it’s super clean, transmission shifts smooth. Yes it has dipstick. Please help thanks

Trans fluid should always be clean, but what shade/color is it? If it shifts smooth, and looks red I wouldn't worry about it. Unless it smells burnt, or fluid is dark. If you're worried though, I can't see any sort of downside to changing the fluid.

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it. Just drive it. Transmissions die when they die. Changing the fluid doesn't make them last longer.

Whatever you decide to do, if you do change your fluid, you only need to do a pan drain and fill. It's fairly straight forward.

If the fluid is overly dark, and there are signs of sludge, it's better to drain, replace the filter and reservice. Especially if it has miles without it being done.

Looks like it was maintained, so just do a drain & fill. Easy enough to do on the 4-speed since it has a dipstick.

On such an old truck don't dick around with dropping the pan. One wrong move and you can snap a bolt.

I have towed and done lots of hard driving.
Did my first pan drain and add 3 qts at 250k miles since it seemed like RPMs went up on take off.
    All back to normal now.

Personally I don't like flushes. I am team drain and refill every 30k on all of my vehicles (both AT and MT). Some say this is overkill, but I haven't had a single transmission issue since I started doing that in the early 2000's and some of the cars I service are over 250k miles (all personal vehicles for myself and family).
