It’s weird how those engines work. My best friend ran 20 pounds of boost through his stock drivetrain 2006 WRX wagon from like 30,000 miles until he traded it in at something like 193,000 miles. It still had its original clutch to boot. Others blow motors during break in.

Mine was tuned for 20 psi also, put down +80 whp and ripped. I never went above 3,000 rpm or into boost until oil was up to temperature, rarely did high load, low rev situations and watched the oil level religiously. I dropped half a quart one oil change once. My UOAs were perfect. Last I heard it turned 100k and still had the original motor, so who knows.

I miss the big dumb wing. I need more big dumb wing in my life. I don’t think this one will even get aftermarket exhaust, let alone the rest of the stuff. I won’t be able to afford anything but the payment.

I'm just curious, your truck doesn't have a switch on the passenger side of the radio bezel under the vent for the key to go into to turn off the passenger airbag? Mine does, but mine is also an 06 before they added a fair bit of stuff to the interior and SRS

Can’t blame you for ranting. I totally understand why we do inspections here. Especially if you’ve visited Florida recently and seen some of the cars on the road there where they don’t do inspections. Seems like mass gets stricter and stricter every year however

No sir, I've seen those before but not on mine.

I'm fine with strict if it incorporates common sense too but this is just flying in the face of that

Yeah I think the break in has to be done pretty strict, and if not then it blows, OR you have issues way down the road at 100k+. Which is why I'm less inclined to get one. That and premium. I want to build up LT on an NA vehicle for fun :)

It's amazing some of the stuff that passes inspection though :p

I'm surprised to hear that also. My '01 Ranger had the key switch to turn off the passenger air bag if needed. Weird.

Seems like in general those got phased out in favour of the weight sensor in the seat. But that middle area doesn't have that so it wouldn't matter.

YUP. The SOS (Seat Occupancy Sensor) triggers the passenger airbag. It needs (I think) a 25kg weight to calibrate it, so I assume 25kg (about 55lb) to set it off. The driver side will pop no matter what, the truck will always assume there's someone driving it (...which makes sense). The passenger is based on the sensor to trigger or not. A lot more dependable than hoping the driver remembers to turn it back on/off when needed.

Supposedly, when you take the passenger seat out and put it back in, you have to re-calibrate it sometimes. What actually triggers that vs doesn't, I don't know. I have mine out for a year at a time, and when I put it back in, the lights turn off again.

Says 3, but that's still asinine to me since legally in MA you can't put a car seat in there or a non-car seat needing occupant

My seat has the Passenger Pressence Sensor in it. I had to swap it over when I did my bucket seat swap. My air bags are set to on and if I have enough weight the light on the dash next to the clock says Airbag and below ON gets lit up and a big red seat belt person icon illuminates. If I turn the seat off, it goes to Airbag OFF and that's it.

So I guess yes it makes sense to just base off the sensor, but having the option can also be nice since I won't blow the dash and windshield apart in an accident if it's turned off

Sounds like we have the same sensor, you just have the manual override option and I don't. Either way if I had someone in the middle of the bench the driver's airbag is on at a minimum..which goes back to the state law that it's unsafe for a child to be there BECAUSE of the manual override being absent.

    UGH this state

Yup, MA can be a huge pain. Just like I can't get a sticker for my 4runner because the parking brake doesn't work but they discontinued making the cables and parts for it

Not sure on that particular one, but they make good wall plug in tenders
