    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Fortunately my truck is retired from the daily drive life. My plan is to have the rear axle done and be on 37s by King of Hammers.

I'm hoping to also have the fully fabbed spindles and RCV CVs by Hammers, but it wont be a deal breaker if I don't get there. That's going to depend on how good or bad my bonus is this year.

Moved my oil catch can closer to the air filter to see of it helps with the smell a little.

It's about damn time you throw that under the truck haha

Sounds like a plan! I'm undecided on spindles since the Solo Motorsports kit looks bitchen, but rumor has it that MCM Fab has a 4WD race kit in the works, so I might wait and see what he comes out with first.

One thing I'm pretty disappointed on with Solo. He didn't even mention he was redesigning his LCAs when I bought mine (less than a year ago). Now he wants $1400 for the new LCAs. Which would in turn give me a couple of boat anchors to sit in my garage for eternity because no one is going to want the old style LCAs by themselves.

It's not nearly as bad if I have the air recirculating in the cabin but if I have it suckin fresh air it's definitely unpleasant. Maybe I have excessive blow by or something. If I pop the hood while it's running you can see smoke coming out of the little filter. I emptied it for the first time last night and there wasn't very much in there at all

That sure sounds like a lot of blowby. Maybe getting rid of the filter on the can and putting a hose barb to the back of the turbo filter would be better? You'll have removed the oil vapor it'll just be some excess air and combustion gasses.

Hopefully this will help enough until I can build a box for the air filter and find a better way to plumb the snorkel. I was planning to put hose barbs on the box. It can't stink if it's being sucked into the motor and burned

Not the first time I've heard that said. There's a few people I've seen make the request for a trade in program on social media, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty slim.

Ha! I guess that is one motivating factor.

The likelihood of a trade in program is non-existant... I called them.

Now that I have heated seats inbound Id appreciate any insight the collective has to offer in wiring them up.
Initial thoughts are to take power from the two lower outlets in the cab, one for each seat. Ive never used those outlets and even considered installing the switches in their place.

I've got corbeau seats and Planted brackets inbound and don't know what else I should be preparing to order to get them all set up.

Hardware, relays, switches, seat slides? I'm going into this a little blind

If it were me I would use a relay triggered by key on power straight from the battery for them since I think each one can draw a little over 12amps usually. And I'm pretty sure the power ports are only good for like 10 amps they're pretty small gauge wiring. Using the relay triggered by key on power keeps you from accidentally draining your battery with your seat heaters.

I wondered about the small wires. I know the topic has been brought up in here before. I feel like I remember someone modifying the seat belt receptor to allow it to move with the seats when you slide it too.

Dang guys it’s been ages since I’ve been around these parts. Work and life stuff has kept me far too busy. Not much has changed on mine since early summer, but I treated her to a wash and some nice solo night driving to clear my head, and I thought she looked real nice. Still only 92K miles on her. upload_2023-10-26_3-13-50.jpg

will their seats come with a harness? My rostra kit came with a harness and I used the wire for the seat motors under the seat as my constant power supply. The rostra kit did have a relay. More info here:

I found "key on" power in an unused connector dangling under the radio stack. The heaters in my 1994 pickup can both be on high and the 7.5 amp CB does not pop, whereas the 5 amp CB did pop with both heaters on high.

I did not find a relay and wiring to my battery was necessary. The seat heater wiring harness that I bought also came with a Blue 15 amp fuse. I opted to use a CB for ease of resetting if needed.

Here is the kit I recently ordered for my Taco

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/195958565680

It has three levels which is an upgrade from the usual two level offerings and the switches have embedded illumination for night ops.

It appears that the current link offering has rolling switches. When I bought the kit a few weeks ago it came with the 3-level switches pictured below.

The power rating of a similar pad is listed at:

    DC 12V, 24-36W /Pad

so, just about 2-3 amps per pad at 14V DC, I'll report back if I need to move to a 10 amp CB with both seats on high.

    Mike
