    what are those?
Is it better to purchase gear kits and lockers and bring all parts to someone to do regear or is it better to let shops source the parts?

From what I have found it seems bringing lockers if found at a good deal seems like a better option but not so sure about gears?

Second question I have 8.4 rear diff I can find lockers and gears for rear but what about the front are they all the same? Are lockers different? For reference I have a 2015 trd sport

Whatevers the cheaper route in my opinion. So long as you or the shop are sourcing quality parts. Whatever shop thats going to be doing the work, ensure they have experience with setting up gears. Last thing you want is to drop a chunk of change on a regear just to have the shop setup the gears incorrectly.

You have an 8" reverse cut up front. So look for 8" reverse cut gears. For front lockers, as far as I know the only options are ARB and Eaton. Arb being air and Eaton electric operated

    IFS Locker part numbers:
    ARB #RD111 - 3.92 & Up
    ARB #RD121 - 3.73 & Down
    Eaton #14221-1 - 3.91 & Up
    Eaton #14219-1 - 3.73 & Down

My opinion....If you can turn wrenches or are willing to learn I reccomend just going through ECGS and getting built assemblies and doing the swaps yourself. Buying the assemblies and having someone else do the work is an option as well.

Thanks for the part #s I should have mentioned in the post I was doing arb air lockers already have the compressor and manifold and other misc parts ready to install

And yes I do most my work myself except welding its just a skill i never picked up and have a friend that is red seal that can help. i was looking at the ecgs option I just have read with gears a lot can go wrong really fast so was considering the shop route but maybe I'll look at that again.

Also I'm in canada so I get at parts shipped to the states and do a lot of the work at my property there or brong them back in smaller amounts to avoid duty on them...my usa property is less tool equipped and is dirt driveway so not as ideal for big projects.

Lots of members including myself have been running gears from ECGS with no complaints. Been running their assemblies for the past 5 years. The first 3 with lots of highway/offroad driving and the last 2 strictly offroad as I now trailer the tacoma. Great customer service. Not sure what a shop would charge you for work but if it's anything close to ECGS's price I'd just go with them and do the work yourself.
