I'm usually pretty silent on it because I understand the idea, not many know/care enough to keep up on vehicle stuff like ourselves so I just do it and get it done.

Place failed me yesterday. Per them my regular cab Tacoma must have 3 seatbelts and my middle belt missing is a failure.

Hadn't been an issue from 2012 when I got it until 2019, right when the on camera stuff started. The Toyota dealer then even agreed with my thoughts but said if it's a grey area he's gotta reject it as they're being watched. I disputed it through the RMV and won based on:

Per MA law, you can't put a child seat in the front (which is most likely what that spot would be used for) as I can't manually shut off the airbag(s) in the vehicle.

The space is about 12 inches..2 CD cases fit side by side tightly. If a person not needing a car seat was in that spot they'd be straddling the shifter and have at least one leg on my side of the floor, which is illegal.

In both examples the person would most likely be prone to knocking the shifter out of gear as well.

I disputed the 2019 finding and won, the inspector who called me even said that's ludicrous that a 2 passenger vehicle would require it and told the shop to pass it. No issues again until now.

The 18 year old who failed it got a pissy attitude in telling me it was failing and when I started on my explanation slowly shrunk behind his boss..the boss folded his arms and got all snotty like who am I to tell him something.

As an aside I dug up my title and found it incorrectly lists my truck as 4 door 4 passenger, so I'll have to get that corrected after this. But in future years bet I'll have that title in my pocket and show anyone who contends it's a 3 belt requirement.

What did you use for the rub?

 

Using the last of a store bought rub. I made my own brisket rub when I did that a couple years ago, but have been using this for my pulled pork. Might try and do my own pulled pork rub next time. Mustard as a binder.



Actually doing pretty decent at maintaining an ok temperature range on this thing. Glad I did all of that yootoob research.

 

Ever see the BBQPITBOYS? website? They have loads of video's and recipes for rubs and such. Watching a lot of their videos over the years I would of never guessed they were from Connecticut. Makes me want to go smoke a rack of ribs! Enjoy!

Had 2 rack bucks come in to my rattling 40 min apart...but not close enough.
48 yards was the closest. No go with my self imposed 40 yard "magic circle".
At least I am figuring them out and where they are. Next 3 weeks will be prime time.

Pretty successful first smoke on the new to me offset. Meat fell apart taking it out.



One of the pins that are used as a hinge for the firebox door broke. I was speaking to my wife's grandpa who was the original owner of this, before he gave it to my wife's uncle. He said its at least 25 years old. Reached out to Pitts and Pitts via email to see if theres any way for me to order a replacement pin.



Had a blast getting used to this smoker. Found it wasn't too hard maintaining temperature, but definitely learned a bunch on that topic.
