Tuesday morning I saw a low of 37 degrees when I crossed the small creek close to my work. Almost 70 degrees when I went home that afternoon. Today was 51 riding in and almost 70 right now.

I'll ride as long as there's no black ice or snow but after we get snow the salt/cinders they put on our roads I may take a few days off until that crap washes off just to protect my bike.

I have some space under the seat but my mini compressor and tire plug stuff takes up some room. I still have the OEM tool bag but modified the contents to more sturdy or useful stuff. I also have an axle nut wrench under there as well so space is becoming more of an issue. Under the pillion seat I have my auxiliary FZ-1 fuseblock so not much extra room left there.

31 on my ride in this morning and 33 with a little bit of flurry snow (not enough to even make the ground wet) on my lunch ride to let the dog out. Looks like it has since warmed up to a balmy 35.

Nahh I was a fair weather rider up until I think four or five years ago. I get it. Started out as a like a huh, I wonder how long I can keep riding, and once I got the gear and equipment to do it comfortable it's not really a big deal anymore. Without the right coat and gloves or heated gear I don't blame anyone for throwing in the seasonal towel. As long as it's dry out I'm usually riding. I forgot my low, I want to say I did 13 degrees last winter? Maybe lower? My LiFePo4 battery is a bigger pain than any discomfort is at that point. It does not like starting in that low of a temp after sitting all day in a parking garage.

the right gear is essential for riding in any sort of non-mild weather. I'm the same as far as riding as long as it's dry...but I'll ride in the wet too as long as it isn't absolutely storming lol.

One added benefit of winter riding I've noticed: your body acclimates fairly quickly if you put on just enough gear to have a mild chill, thus saving on heating needs at home. Unfortunately it doesn't work the same way with the heat, or maybe it's just my body

    * i would not advise trying to acclimate if you're already in a normally very cold area lol YMMV

Start checking your dealers right now -- mine is an ex demo bike and I got it for just south of 12k. 3000 miles on the clock and still under warranty. This is the time of year they start putting those to dealers to make room for next year's demo fleet.

I thought about turning on my heated grips just now at 66deg. Haha. *Kissy face*

Also back to the two Japanese Honda 50cc scooters I picked up. Everything seems to be minty (insane that rubber from 30yrs ago is still playable etc, they don't build em like they used to). Bout the only issue is gas left in the tank ended up turning to varnish VERY BAD (I initially thought rust)

MULTIPLE cleanings of the first one I have dug into and I THINK *fingers crossed* it will be good from here on out. Fresh gas rejuvenated things inside the tank and turned black in a night, clogging everything fuel tank to carb. That gas will get disposed of as I wouldn't even subject my ole lawnmowers Briggs its that disgusting. Quick flush of carb, fuel pump (lil vacuum operated guy works fantastic), and fuel filter and all is good.

The one I have gone through fires up on the second half assed kick after sitting out in the "cold" (50 deg) all night and purrs like a kitten. Does 30mph uphill, 40 down, 35 on the flat right on spec haha.

Part of me wants to keep one to go to the grocery store beer runs 3/4 of a mile away.

But I already have a Grom I haven't ridden in multiple weeks. (Sorry lil guy)

BUUUUUUT (trying to justify having more 2 wheeled things, I know I can count on you guys to help me see the light), this thing wouldn't have registration, insurance, or a care in the world about leaving out key in the ignition out front to just hop on and go. Hmmmmm

The longer you keep it the classic-er it gets and therefor the more it's worth. It'd be an investment to keep it, and a poor financial decision to get rid of it now

What eventually happens to fuel tanks (inside) on old motorcycles. We are having one of those 1/4 tank vs empty discussions in another thread. I'm an empty'r myself.

I haven't ridden a moto I learned to brake with my left hand.
