I tried looking for this information, which I'm sure is out there, but I'm having some trouble and I'm hoping other members have figured this out.

Which e-locker motors are compatible with the 1st gen Tacoma? I'm not asking which diff or which axle, I'm talking about the locker motor itself.

I know AISIN SAT-008 (95-15 Tacoma) https://amzn.to/3QzrQ6H is the correct one for the 1st gen Tacoma, but it appears that other locker models are extremely similar if not the same except for the motor covers, wiring connector, or extraneous brackets.

These two in particular look extremely similar.

    SAT-002 (93-97 Landcruiser) https://amzn.to/3QAquc6
    SAT-009 (96-00 4Runner, Plus others?) https://amzn.to/3MlefNT
    SAT-020

I only ask because sometimes you can find these other motors a lot cheaper than the 1st gen tacoma one.

80 HP elock, 3rd gen 4r, first gen Taco are compatible with each other.

The newer 8.2 (fj & 4r) elock look identical but have a larger mounting hole and mounting is slightly off compared to the 8".

Excellent info, I'd like to compile this information so any more details you can provide, the better.

    I believe 3rd Gen 4Runner = SAT-009
    80 HP (landcruiser 80 right?) = SAT-002

Which vehicles started using the 8.2? Is that the SAT-020? which seems to be 2010-2020 4Runner and some others.

I believe 2010+ 4r and fj with the 8.2. The third use 14mm and not 12mm nut.

Picture: left is 8" & right is 8.2. You can somewhat the size difference in the mounting hole. Like i said it's more spread so it will not fit the 8"

Let me clarify, the 8.2 will fit the 8" but the mounting hole on the 8.2 actuator will not aligned with the 8" elock third.

You can probably modify the 8.2 actuator but why? Just buy one that will fit.

Resurrecting the topic: besides the mounting holes, is the rest identical - internals, pinouts, motor cover? Given the price difference, I wonder if it makes sense to buy a cheap 8.2 and reuse the components to rebuild 8?
