Recently got a tacoma and wanted to upgrade the tires, possibly to 265/75/R16 BFG’s Ko2 AT but have a 4Cyl truck. Was looking for any recommendation’s to not overdo the engine?

Those BFG’s are E rated so they are heavy. When I had my 4cyl I went with Toyo A/T3, they are about 10 lbs per tire lighter.

Real happy with my Cooper at3 4s. Nice and light, plenty durable.

Stick to SL tires, no LT tires. 265 75 16 is a good choice.

    Cooper AT3 4S, Falken Wildpeak AT3W etc.

If you plan on offroading a skinny all terrain is more ideal

235/85R16 is same diameter as 265/75r16 but weighs less, so if you want LT I would go this route.

I second the vote for going the skinny route. Also don't get hung up on the ko2 hype, there are much better tires out there.

i got the 2.7L and 265 ko2 tires on them are fine. get loading rating C as they are lighter. if you have mudflap they will rub a little bit on them, i just had to adjust mine a little and it was good but also they are RekGen very thin mudflaps. i havent driven on any other tire but i can say none of them look as good as a ko2 on a tacoma.

also add what your intended purpose/s is.
    Assuming not towing?
off road? location, type of terrain?
or just to look cool at the DQ lot on Saturday nights?

either way, as mentioned already, heavy E rated tires will dog any small truck down, especially your 4 banger. I have one size up E rated on my v6 and while I like them,, it hurt MPG's and I could feel them as I was leaving the shop's lot.

The 265/75/16 Duratracs are "theee" most aggressive A/T tire, AND come in a C Load....

I’m on my second set of Pathfinder A/Ts from Discount Tire. They’re a store brand made by Kumho, I believe. Traction and wear has been great, and the price was pretty good too. They seem to take a bit more weight to balance, but no other complaints from me.

    The question is why?

Function of how you use the truck, or is it a looker thing?

Are you living in a 2 or 3 season climate, or massive snow/ice country?

Paved road primary, or off road? If off, typical terrain?

Buying for how you use it 90% of the time, not what you might do sometime, is always a reasonable plan.

Really just to use as a daily and up the looks of the ride with beefier tires without having to lift. Have a trip coming up with possible snow but also wanted to look into something that won’t skid as much but still all terrain.

More of a look, that won’t necessarily exert my the engine or weigh it down so much. Also mentioned a possible trip to some snow so would like to get something that’s good all terrain wise.

I ran 235 85 r 16 Falken Wildpeaks for a while and they were great on the 4cyl
