Did the dealer load test the battery? Checking the battery with a volt meter doesn’t tell you shit on the condition of the battery autozone will test for free. Install the largest CCA battery your can fit in won’t hurt the truck. Optima batteries were good when they were made in the states but now they are made in Mexico and the quality when to shit.

Sounds like the plates warped out of shape in your battery. It happens. It will still work, but will be unreliable at best.

Replace it with a brand that needs for its brand to mean something. Duracell, Napa Gold, etc.

Chungwei Happy Luck batteries probably won't be as good.

My truck was doing this, took it in and had the battery tested and it read perfect. I swapped it anyway and it works amazing now.

I have a 2017 TRD OR 4X4 with technology Package. The 1st time it did what yours did. I went to Costco and got a interstate battery. No more problems.

It is customary to rename threads without the exclamation once the crisis moment has passed. Good luck with your new battery.

    Thank you for this post/thread!

I just ran into the same problem with my 2018 at about 27,000 miles. Threw a new battery in it and it started right up.

Had this problem. The battery ended up being fine (even tho VIP said a week ago it was going bad and they'd replace it for $200) the problem was corrosion on the connector and the battery needed a LOT of water added to it. Added water which took a whole 12 oz bottle, and cleaned the corrosion. Now it works fine.

4 year old thread you woke up here.

Dunno who or what VIP is, but batteries have been sealed for a long time. However, corrosion is a problem and easy to monitor if you open the hood sometimes.

Since your unit is about 6 years old, I'd start shopping for sales now. 'Cause it's likely gonna kick off soon.
