A dog walking app that I though would actually make me money, but it turned out to be much more trouble than it was worth (There's a similar one called Rover); I had just quit the detail shop and Mandy had just passed away, so I thought that I could kill two birds with one stone, making easy money and curing my dog withdrawal at the same time!

I detailed new and used cars at a large dealership, most of which had already been purchased but had yet to be delivered to the new owner; I hated that fucking job with a blistering fury because among other things, I got paid by the vehicle rather than by the hour and I totally got screwed!

I got laid off from my job at NAVMAR Applied Sciences two weeks ago; I have applied for a job at Home Depot, but while I wait for the bureaucratic BS to run its course, I need a way to put gas in the truck and still have something resembling a social life without touching my savings. I have decided to start Dashing again until I get the Home Depot job...

Last night, I dashed for the first time in well over a year, and I am really between a rock and hard place because my acceptance rate dipped to just 35%; I need an acceptance rate of 50% in order to be given priority on higher-paying orders. It is hard to get my rating up when DoorDash keeps sending me the shittiest orders!

Last night, I made almost $30 in roughly an hour and a half just off of two Petco pickups! That's not bad...

Today, while cruising around Doylestown, I got two food orders that amounted to literally less than the federal hourly minimum wage; I declined them both. :luvya:

I made about $2,500 from the beginning of July to the beginning of September, and another $8,000 in the first six months of 2021; I dashed for the first two months or so if 2020, but stopped in March when the pandemic started and did not start up again until January 2021.

I had an accident in June 2021, unfortunately my fault, which resulted in minor damage to my truck that I paid out of pocket to fix but damaged the other vehicle in such a way that it had to be towed. There no injuries, and the 2017 Kia minivan that I hit also had relatively minor damage, but the way I hit the van resulted in the left rear wheel being bent upwards and unable to make full contact with the road.

It had been so long since I'd had an at-fault accident, that accident forgiveness kept my rates from going up. My deductible at the time was $1,000 and the cost of fixing my truck was like $1,100 so I paid out of pocket.

I found out the hard way that the at-fault party must be ticketed in accidents where the other party is injured or the their vehicle has to be towed...

I was stone cold sober, and I wasn't driving recklessly; I literally neglected to look left a third time after waiting five minutes at a busy intersection that was (and still is) controlled by two stop signs. The citation said "failure to perform duties at stop sign" and was something like $163 if I remember correctly.

I'm glad that I had my sunglasses on when the responding trooper told me that I was getting a ticket, because I rolled my eyes.

I went to court, and the same trooper who issued the ticket requested that the judge throw out the charges; I got all of my money back.

Needless to say, that little fiasco was enough to keep me from doing DoorDash for about six months. I got a new frame from Toyota in November 2021, and I haven't had a fender bender since I got the new frame.

I stopped doing DoorDash regularly in February 2022 after a customer reported the order as having never arrived; I got a contract violation that is still pending almost two years later. The delivery was to someone staying at a nice hotel in North Wales; I have dashcam footage proving that I handed the order to a black guy claiming to be the customer.

Looking back on it, I believe that one of things two things happened...

    • The asshole planned on doing this from the beginning and didn't care if he fucked over the driver.
    • The asshole was NOT the customer and saw a crime of opportunity.
I believe that the second scenario is more likely...

Tough call, I've seen both of the scenarios you mention re the food. It happened to me at a Dunkin Donuts when I waited for an order, another person grabbed the wrong one (which was a lot more expensive than his) and after he left I was asked what my order was..he took both mine, his, and another. Someone said "oh he did that the other day too"
