You just need to keep in mind that although you can find things on the web in Wyoming there is still a good chunk of old school ways here that will get you where you need to go.

 

As much as people hate Facebook....it is still rather big in WY. Tons of stuff gets posted to the local area FB pages. Houses to rent, stuff for sale, events, info, ect. That and the local newspaper (weekly one) are pretty much the only way to stay up to date on whats going on around town

 

I figured I’d have to make an account eventually to furnish my place but I’m dreading Hs friends sending request. Maybe I’ll make a “John Brown” type account.

 

I mean...just ignore the friend requests. Easy enough to do.

 

Been back to daily driving the truck for the foreseeable future on account the power steering on my Mercedes is on its last leg and I have PTSD about bearings sizing and belts failing... And I gotta say, the truck is not a terrible DD and actually gets decent gas mileage. Being that I'm ballin on a budget, and the truck isn't back to being abused (yet) what does the Wyoming friends say about running cheap moogs for lbjs? Mine have 50k miles on the OEM ones, but I feel for short term, pavement pounding life, the moogs would be fine for 50k and replaced by OEM down the road.

 

Realtor's ended up working out. Be there late next month!

 

Running them on my lil red dd truck which is also super fun and gets decent mileage. I think you'll be just fine with the moogs.

So heres my thing that I'm not sure about.

I've had a bad bearing in the AC ideler for like ever. Finally replaced it. But i still get a chirping randomly while on the highway. And another sound which sounds like something odd with the rotor is going on. But the chriping I can't figure. Is is possible the Alt has a bearing that could go bad? Does it chirp when the brushes go bad?(which Im sure Im in need of replacing anyways).

 

Like a rhythmic chirp or just random one of chirp?

It's rhythmic. But very sporadic.

Me too. I still need to iron out my clutch. And swap to the OEM engine mounts. But still a great truck. Would like to add sound deadening too to the doors.

Why are you wanting to change the OEMs? It seems like 50K isn't that much for OEMs. I currently have ~55K on mine.

When it does make the chirp, is the frequency of the chirp linked to engine speed or vehicle speed?

 

Preventative maintenance really. With big heavy 35s and the abuse I put the truck through, I feel it is probably best to change them in the next couple months than wait for failure. From my knowledge on it, if they move at all youre done. I've never perfected the technique for checking for play, it's just one of those "do regularly rather than wait to fail". It's not an immediate need, but it is on my radar for once I get the daily back up and going.

 

I assume "failure" is the ball pulling out from the ball socket. Is that your definition?

As far as being on the radar, I get that. We do have 1st gens afterall. And we have seen the worst of what a failure means.

nope. Do notice it when Im on the highway. But braking or reving the engine doesn't change it.

 

Mine took me a while to diagnose as it was odd in tits behavior. I think the part is actually cheap so it wouldn't be too reckless to shotgun that part at it to see if it goes away.
