I believe Schwen's on Monona Drive (if they are still in business) has ethanol free gas. The Cenex in Middleton (Pleasant View Rd., 1 block south of Hwy 14) has a bank of pumps that are dedicated 100% gasoline. I get 'bout 1-1 1/2 better mpg's with real gas.

in my 2005, it didn’t care what fuel you put in it. My 2016 & 2017 were much more sensitive to brands and octanes. I usually ran 91e0. The 3.5 is much pickier than the 4.0 was.

I never had any intention of buying one-I will make my own. This is just the look I like. Mine will be heavy and tough because I tend to do stupid thing. Can't believe that I wouldn't just destroy an aluminum bed... Already have the springs. Regear is in the future as well.

What is the price difference from regular e10 to ethanol free?

Unfortunately, anytime I find ethanol-free it is usually premium only. Anytime I have tried it, if anything I have actually noticed a decrease in fuel economy. Even if I gave the ECU a few tanks to learn it, any gain in fuel economy would easily be offset by the cost.

Here's what the pumps look like at my local gas station this morning:

Even with the increase in mileage, it still costs more, but being mid grade, not as much more.

Tim, @Pixeltim, I know it's out of the way, but I believe the Fleet Farm on 19 by Windsor has ethanol free mid grade.

Interesting! I had no idea we had a fleet farm nearby. I'll have to check out their firearms section...

You call yourself a Wisconsinite and don't know where the nearest Fleet Farm is?! For shame! :D

Seriously though I don't know what the firearms look like now, but a couple years back it was the only place I could find lead-free turkey shells anywhere in SE Wisco. Hit or miss but sometimes they have some things you won't find elsewhere which is nice.

A baby seal somewhere says thank you for your service lol. Serious though we need to convince someone else in the WI crew to get a supercharger now (and I call ye olde time-honored "1-2-3 not it" from grade school days)...who can we sucker, err convince, into getting one? Hey Tim if you are only going to use 2WD most of the time anyways might as well be fast too!

I've thought about a supercharger, I just need to win the lottery first.

Alcohol free is the way to be

The tunes, regardless of what octane they are "set" at, have a pretty wide learning variable curve. Couple 2-3 good tanks of your favorite blend and it'll be purring along just fine

Yes, but the different settings are a baseline. It can still octane learn for quite a wide curve. Best to be consistent though.

1st gens said 10% or less. Lol

10 miles a day might explain crappy mileage.

Gotta come down to Tennessee. Half the stations have ethanol free, and only half of those charge a higher price for it

Back when I had the tuning done on the old Audi they had a sale going on where I could get all the programs done for the normal cost of one, so I could switch the tuning between stock and stage 1 tuned with 91, 93 or 100 octane.

I've since added cold air intake, a 3" downpipe off the turbo and other stuff (see, I've had these issues long before I started on my truck!) so I could get the tune to stage 2 and still switch up the gas. I keep it at 93, never got a chance to try 100. Someday when I get the bugs worked out and get it back on the road I'm gonna have to find some 100 (...and Jesus).

How ddi that go from gasoline to firearms
I'm out for at least a few years-got other fish to fry: flat bed, front locker and regear; oh, and damage control with the wife...

One would think. However, I was getting 19.5-21 city using KT's 91.
The sudden drop happened after that gas from RC Co-Op.

Had my mpg's not recovered I would've started pointing fingers at the 80W-90 I put in the front diff.
It's only temporary, btw. I'll drain it and put the right stuff in when I put the ECGS bushing in.
The fluid I drained was pretty dirty. A thicker fluid to pick up anymore particles and add extra cushion to the needle bearing is how my brain thinks.

Old gas. Crappy gas. Winter blend. Cold. Lots of things can cause it to tank on a fill up.

the switch to winter blend is usually a 1-2+ mpg drop

Beat me to it. The winter blind is easily taken two out of my daily. Maybe up to three. With current conditions. Once the cold and rain set in it'll get worse I'm sure.

It went to firearms because even though Fleet Farm and Farm & Fleet share ancestry, only Fleet Farm is a full service FFL where Farm & Fleet only sells ammo and airsoft crap.
