As long as *someone* will pay that price, they do it. Some put overpriced unnecessary options on to justify the price, others just tell you "suck it up, loser!".

I wonder what theft patrol really is. That might be a good deal. $1295 for some dude who patrols the area whereever you park your truck seems like a deal by the time you figure out his salary and benefits over the lifetime of the truck. They're very transparent with their pricing except for the tax and licensing fees. That's where they get you. The other stuff you just deal with. Sign of the times...

A markup is an insult to buyers. Msrp should be the price without those unidentifiable extras. Would be curious what they are. One is a can of $895 scotchgard the other only the shadow knows for sure.

It's the same at my Toyota dealership, even a bit worse because they are part of SE Toyota Mafia...err...Distributors which adds on it's own useless overpriced extras. I really think since Covid they think they have gold, and you should pay them what they ask and say thank you for the opportunity to buy one. I will never forget the time I went in for service just after they had started the markups, and I was chatting with my salesperson that sold me my truck while I waited. He tried to tell me that the markup was like a savings account that I would get back when I traded it in. I was dumbfounded and literally said to him "no, I prefer to call it what it really is...you taking advantage of the market to fuck over buyers and get money they will never see again". Someone said it earlier though...as long as there is someone willing to pay it, they won't stop doing it.

The prices in Canada are a bit confusing lately too. I paid msrp which was just shy of 59k for my pro. But all the ones I see for sale now are 65k, I don't really get it but I haven't seen a break down of the pricing.

The going markup for the '21 pro in Lunar Rock in MT was $20k... and they would not budge!
    :bananadead:

I find the worthless dealer add ons more offensive. At least they are honest with the 'Mark-up". The "dealer options" would have to be labeled "Blatant rip-Off"...

I went out of state to get mine and avoid this crazyness...

The used prices are out of control. I've seen my exact truck but auto with 6k km on it for 78k Canadian. Good to know I can sell for high but I won't ever sell so it's just weird.

I thought used prices were down because of inventory and nodody buying new vehicles? Might not apply to Toyota Tacomas, but why pay that much more above market for a Toyota if other vehicles are going for below market?

These threads always amuse me. There will always be someone who puts a pie in the sky price on stuff, waiting to reel in someone stupid enough to pay it.

I don't like the price, so I won't buy the truck. Why waste a second thought about things that I'm not forced to buy, when there are plenty of required expenses that one can complain about? Like the price of insurance right now. Fuck insurance.

Who knows. This is just what I see around me in Canada. Everything is upside down it seems. I know i got lucky getting my truck. I've talked to alot of people that ask me how the hell I found the truck I got. I just called my dealer and asked if they had any manual pros coming, yea solar octane will be here in 2 months. It was that easy for me.
