complete Long Travel Suspension built by DMZ: 3+ Control Arms by TC, Bed Cage, Denver Under Springs, Fox all around (Coilover & Bypass up Frt, 3.0 Bypass Rr). Full Glass front fenders and bedsides. Engine so far: TRD CAI, DT Headers, URD Y Pipe, Gibson Muffler. And a Sprint Booster. Sits on Toyo OC 35x12.5 on 17’s. Nitro Rear end and re-geared for 35’s (4.56). Goals: Flowed Heads, Cams, and Boost (SC) ! So far, so good
I just picked up mine, man oh man is it a work of art. And just looking at them side by side, you instantly know ya have almost double the Cooling

    big time mahalo’s

PS: also added the URD 170’ TR, a Flex Lite “Wave” electric ⚡️ fan, and the bigger Tranny cooler by Mishimoto…

side note: don’t quote me, but I think CSF (part #7092) makes a Tacoma specific radiator now. I think this simply because my Taco Shroud fits perfectly (no need trim other than I took off about an inch from the circular fan tunnel just to give myself future “Wrenching”room… since the radiator is about an inch deeper/thicker).

saw a post on Instagram of some drift guy saying he’s surprised honeycomb guard isn’t more common in automotive

    Is this a good idea?

Apparently it’s used in drifting to prevent puncturing a cooler. IMG_9287.jpg

I’ve dealt with a punctured cooler before (customer car) and would hate to have that happen on mine.

maybe a square cut put in front of condenser?
Lord knows how much stuff has bent the fins on mine over the years.

eyeballing doing CSF rad, CSF new condenser, and maybe the honeycomb.
It comes in different color choices.

Interesting. I wonder what the air-flow penalty is for that. Just by eye I would guess maybe 12-15% less airflow thru it. But sure, 15% less air flow is a lot better than sudden drop to 0% cooling when a rock punctures a cooling tube.

yeah i mean maybe I’ll google to see if there’s any info

a new stock or upgraded rad will still cool better than stock
    And temps can reflect that

idk if the mesh spaces. Air can still flow through. Maybe a little less ambient.
Maybe a slight reduction in surface area.

who knows maybe it’s not needed. Maybe a radiator is consumable.
Or in this case the condenser since 1. It’s in front to shield the radiator, 2. Even a new condenser is cheap being $60-80 from CSF

not to mention fact the stock condenser lasted this long without a puncture so far.

might be more of a concern on sports cars with their fancy low down design grills that are closer to road debris with a lot less protection. They tend to have bigger gaps in the grill designs.

not too bad to replace a condenser. Which if short term punctured hopefully doesn’t kill the compressor spinning without gas. Maybe clutch and keep button off would prevent that.

Yes, this, 100%. Probably much less of an issue on a Taco that's already a foot or so off the ground.

After reading a lot of this thread…I’m confused as what to do moving forward. Buy CSF, Mishimoto, or OEM?

I don’t want to tinker with everything. I just want to replace and run cool.

Any insight from others experiences would be helpful.
