I'm not an expert, but that C load'r is rated for a higher top/disintegration speed than the E load. So the LR C tire may have another belt or something. Complete speculation.

I have 265/70r17 115T (lightweight standard load ones) made in Serbia, bought them 2 months ago.

I also wish to link this post from another thread of these worn ones (unspecified tread depth) for the purpose of information/visual of the worn tread pattern. This poster notes earlier in that thread that they got the tires early on so I don't know if maybe things are different today.

I have these in standard load and I am satisfied so far, only 1500 miles on them, they feel a touch understeery, or soft, on tight turns on dry pavement and on loose dirt/sand. That just might be the way the stock 4runner drives tho, I have no point of comparison. Fine on the freeway.

I am leaning towards 255/75 R17 and recently saw tire rack has $100 off toyo tires.

my local discount tire sales person told me that discount tire owns tire rack

Can you point me to the Toyo discount at TireRack? I’m not seeing that - I need to pick up a set of tires for my jeep. Sadly I rarely ever see deals on Toyos.

You are exactly right on the fact that LT sizes have less siping for off-road. Less siping means that their are less location that a crack can occur and therefore less chance for chunking of tread. P-rated tires are not meant for the same off-road duty that LT tire's are.

LT’s are made for bigger trucks that haul more weight.

Here are a few pics of my SL's after about 2 years of driving. I wasn't that happy/impressed.

How many miles? If I could get 40-45K out of a set I’d be happy. I was already at 22K when I sold mine and they were at 8/32, so I was on track. I like the non-LT traction a lot better.

I can't recall off my head but less than 30,000 KLMs so about 18,000 miles. I drive up to the ski hill a lot in the winter so the decrease in sipes and tread depth concerned me... It's all good. I sold them for a really good price and I'm super happy with my new Motomaster Eliminator X-Trail A/T made by Cooper Tire.

E load is going to resist debeading at low psi the best. I confirmed this with my shop. That's the bottom line for me.

You should be running dedicated winter tires.

Not super impressed with traction when wet. My stock Goodyears with 40,000 never spun. They better impress me in the snow/ice or they are coming off.

Update: pushed through heavy water and deep puddles @65-70mph for 3 hours out I-84. Little to no hydroplaning. Handled very impressively.

I thought mine were pretty bad in rain at first but now that I have about 8K on them and it’s been raining quite heavily the last week or so, they’re starting to seem a lot better. I also aired them up significantly, they’re around 38 now vs 30. They seem to do better now than they did. Not hating the LT anymore.

I wonder if this is a problem with only the Sl version considering the softer compound.
