I went the other way around. I had Wildpeaks in a 265/75 and loved them. Probably the best tire I've ever had. Especially in the snow. I recently bought Cooper 255/85's. Also a great tire. Very comparable to the Wildpeaks with a little more clearance. I have yet to try them on snow though. Honestly, the main reason I decided to try the Cooper's was because of looks. I wanted something a little more aggressive. The ST Maxx is kinda like an MT, but not. So far I'm just as happy with them as I was the Wildpeaks. I haven't noticed any difference in mpg's, but they are slightly louder on the road. Both excellent tires imo. Big Brand Tire had the Coopers at about $60 off a tire. Not sure if that sale is still going on, but that made it worth it to me to buy them. Otherwise they're too damn much.

I had the same experience. Close to OEM sized Wildpeaks and then a switch to 255/85/R16 Coopers. The Coopers are a hybrid tire, fyi. The other 4 choices in this size are pure MT's as well.

Agreed on the price. Even with a military discount I paid close to $2,300 for 5 tires.

They are phenomenal though. I have had no issues anywhere. So much traction in all weather.

The 265 Wildpeaks - on a Stock SR5 Tacoma - pretty much the same size as the 245s ?...
I want something slightly bigger than the current stock 245s but I don't want it to look out of place -
And I like the Wildpeaks, put 'em on my wife's Forester and they look and feel great.
No plans on lifting or any of that -

Yes, you are increasing the overall diameter by a very small amount. Hardly noticeable to the eye, and it makes no difference in how the truck drives.

I just saw my neighbors 265/70/16 Michelins they looked good too -
    I suppose I'd be splitting hairs on 265/70 vs 265/75 ...

Just need to get it over with and pull the trigger on these I guess.

Not sure about the Michelins, but for BFG AT KO2, the 75 series is slightly cheaper around here, even though it’s bigger. Win-win.

Has anyone tried these tires on a 3rd gen SR with stock wheels and stock suspension? I’ve read through this forum and can’t find anyone who has, but I’m looking for the added ground clearance without any modifications. Thanks in advance :fingerscrossed:

Yeah, people have. I’ve seen people post on here that own the utility package SRs with the 255/85/16s with no mods.

I'll put these up in here as well. 23 pro with rokblokz flaps all stock. 255/85r16 geolanders 11700km alignment never touched clears just fine with the new uca. Love skinny tires.

Quoting this to bring it to the "front"

Searched long and hard to find if this size would work with 1.25" spacers. Finally ready to pull the trigger.

    Usual fair
    First post here.

2022 TRD Sport double cab, manual.

I can confirm 255/85R16 does NOT clear without rubbing fender liner trim and cab mount with my specific set-up.

    -255/85R16 Geolander MT
    -Countersteer Offroad 16x8 +0, 4.5 backspacing
    -Stock suspension
-Roughly 300lbs of added statistic weight (bumber/winch, skids x4, bed drawers and fiberglass canopy).

The fender liner was an easy fix with heat. The cab mount rubbing might resolve upon the "2 inch" suspension lift I'm planning as this will move the alignment of the peak radious of the wheel lower vs the cab mount unless I'm not understanding my geometry correctly.

I'll report back once installed. Should be with no more that an additional 300 miles on the tires so tread ware can be ruled out as the resolution (i hope it resolves it!).

I'll add some more photos of the rub spots.

I was going to wait till next year for new tires as my current tires still have some tread left. I gashed one tire and merely replacing it doesn’t make sense to me. So needless to say I jumped the gun and I have a set of yoko m/ts on the way. Hopefully I like them. I’ve ran rough rollers for the past 10 years with great success so hopefully this experiment turns out positive

I'm just curious what everyone else is running for pressure in their 255s? Ive been running 34 cold in my Yoko g003s on stock pro rims. I know using the calculators online I come up with 36, everything seems to be even at 34. I may drop to 32 in the future. I've chalk tested my tires in the past and im not 100 percent convinced of it, and we have snow on the ground already.

I’m running 37 rear 39 front. I’ve got steel sliders, front aluminum stump bumper and a winch. Tires are 255/80/17 Wildpeaks.

A lift won’t help you to clear the cab mount. Unless you plan on driving in straight line and to never cycle your suspension.

When you lift Toyota IFS, you just change static ride height, your wheel still travels through exact range of motion as stock.

For example: Stock, you’ve got about 4” up and 4” down travel. With a 2” lift, you get 2” down travel and 6” up travel. Your wheel ends up at the same place when fully stuffed.

If we are talking about solid axles then yes, a lift helps clear larger tires.

I know all of that, I'm not new to this. My question is more directed at the fact your talking to me about a lift in the first place? I have 0 plans to lift this truck and never mentioned it?
