Really excited about this Penguins team. Very well rounded team. I think we will be much better this year.

I'm just SUPER salty that 'some' media and 'some' players set up this BIG pre-season hype about the Cup. I can't stand it when ANYONE 'counts their chickens' (in sports, or whatever..). Major pet peeve.. Even if it is my favorite team.

 

I 100% agree. I don't know if it's just an Alberta/Western media thing, but everything this summer was about 23/24 being McDavids first cup.

For some strange reason I didn't have ANY issues securing my lawn chair spot for the parade route!! Lawdy lawdy, I cannot wait for that parade!!

 

Anyone hear about Adam Johnson passing away? Former Penguin. Truly tragic. I'm thinking about investing in a neck gaurd. Almost wish more players would, to avoid that ever happening again.

So when I first heard about it, I didn't want to see any details. But following hockey accounts on Twitter made it almost impossible to not see it (thankfully from far away.) However, after seeing it, I really didn't like how that looked. It almost looked like the guy intentionally tried to clip him. I hate even saying that but that was my first thought. Also, not accusing, but it just looked that way to me. Just didn't look natural at all. Looked like there was some level of intent to clip him with the skate, as he flew by. Didn't know how any of you guys might have thoughts on it? Either way, absolutely terrible.

 

I heard about but wasn't interested in the gory details. Truly tragic.

 

I have one of the Bauer shirt neck guards but I haven't been wearing it. It can be warm to wear but I guess its a safer option. I did see the video and after seeing it slowed down my feeling is there's no way his leg whipped up from contact. It appears like he tried to "leg whip" and unfortunately hit high. Its absolutely horrible that Adam passed from such a play.

I've never worn one as a forward. Back in my goalie days yes, but I think I will invest in one. I already use the CCM wrist bands/gaurds and have gotten used to them.

Yeah, like obviously I don't think he meant fir that to be the outcome. I don't like to accuse but my eyes watch that and nothing about it makes sense. It doesn't look natural at all. It looks like he tries to impede or get a piece of him as he goes by. Where does that leave things? I have no idea. But just by the optics I don't think the guy is totally innocent. But I'm sure he feels terrible, at the same time. It's just so sad. But I just can't pass it off as a "complete freak accident" unfortunately.

 

The only other thought I had on this was when you watch a figure skater, do a toe pick assisted jump the energy of the skate hitting the ice launches the skater into the air...it's POSSIBLE that a kick down with his toe would launch his leg in the air if his leg were limp...
