I love the looks with the lower fairing, especially. I have been throwing around the idea of getting an R7 or something a little easier on the street. Assuming the R9 debuts next week, that was also in the mix. But after seeing this XSR GP, that might be really something to consider. Decent, usable power, better ride position but still that sport bike look. I just hate the thought of potentially selling my 06 R6 which I've had since it came out. Not sure what I'll do but that Retro GP is on my radar.

Ducati's new 650cc thumper, double counterbalancer, 77Hp @ 9500 and can be bumped to 84Hp with a different exhaust. It uses their Desmonic valve system. I wonder if this is the basis for their new dirtbike.

I don't care about a Ducati much ether way but it's nice to see some serious engineering taking place in that segment. It's a motor based on the company's engineering advances and carries their heritage, kinda makes Triumph's new singles look like an afterthought.

Yeah, true. But even if not, I'm pretty sure the R9 is going to be a real bike (if we assume all rumors are true and based on MotoAmerica's change in SuperSport class.) So either or, would be nice. I'd take an R7 too. But I agree, I planned to never sell the R6 and probably never will. But might be hard to convince the wife that another bike is needed lol. We will see. Either way, it's cool to see some different variations of that xsr/mt09 platform.

I would like to ride on a large 84hp dirt bike that has less vibes than the 690. Now the price for it is probably something I wouldn’t want to drop lol

Wish it worked that way, trust me lol.

But yes, I agree. The retro GP is certainly a little bit off the wall and I was pleasantly surprised to see a big OEM do something like that. The market has certainly changed in the last 15 years or so.

Hmm... Better! Hoping I'll like the front end tiny headlight more in person.

ya i like it with and without tbh but it does seem more finished with it on. the tiny headlight is kinda odd tbh for a retro styled bike but eh its not super in the way so i can ignore that lol

I agree about the light. It is a little bit goofy but I'm not sure I'd want a double-bubble lens either, which was kinda common in that era. It looks racey with the small light. But people with the R7 (similar, small center light) say it shines good in front of you, but not enough to the sides. So that is annoying. But I don't ride much at night anyways, so I guess it's not a big deal.

It's still good to have a good light in the day time for extra visibility, and you never know when you might have to ride at night.

The RC 390 has a great head light, there's no reason a modern bike should have a crappy head light.

The CRF300L still has halogen headlights. I never understood how Europe/Asia got LED's. It couldn't be that much more to throw LED signals(and headlight for the L) on the NA versions.

To be fair, DRZ is a 20+ year old bike.

I installed the Ford Fabrication headlight bracket and LED light on mine so I could actually see.

My new to me 2001 Honda RC51. Less than 15K miles and bone stock other than tires and battery. Not a mark on this bike, looks like it was just rolled off the showroom floor!
