My truck idles fine but when I give it a little gas the motor races ... also one of the pulley wheels is chirping tho not sure which one. Have to shift gears early because the rpms go high quickly?

    Slipping clutch?

That takes in person diagnosis to confirm. Also could be just the belt.

In gear or in neutral? What does 'race' mean to you? If in gear, see first question. If in neutral, examine the throttle cable for proper routing and tension

So the rpms are fine until I let off the clutch... then just a little gas and the rpms go to the point where I usually shift up... no clutch slippage

There is a slight rattling sound when clutch is engaged?

You mean engage the clutch, correct?

RPMs rising much faster than the vehicle is moving?

*IF* I have the above right, still sounds like clutch slippage to me. As in pretty toasty.

How long has it been since you changed them? I had this, even with new belts, so I incrementally kept tightening the alternator pulley (even though it was to deflection spec,) the chirp decreased each time then went away. Drove me nuts because it only happened on startup and when cold.
