The riff-raff in that trailer is gone finally. The drug dealer moved out and Randy (dubbed Crackhead Randy) passed away a couple months ago. They finally hauled away his truck and they're going to pull the trailer out of there. I assume the property owner is gonna build a house there. Everything is already permitted and has a new sand mound septic system.

Question for the plumbers in the shop:

Recently replaced the supply side of our plumbing with pex. It is all fastened to the joists in the crawlspace (about 18 inches above the dirt floor of said crawlspace). Should I buy the foam pipe insulation and put it on? Could I cause any problems by doing so?

Are you wanting to do it because of possible freezing? I'm not a plumber but I don't see what it would hurt.

Wouldn't hurt. PEX will freeze, but shouldn't bust like copper or PVC.

In Nebraska? Probably need to. And be sure your house is closed up underneath during the winter.

I'd do all of it if possible, or let you faucets drip on really cold nights.

In Nebraska yes. However I am a nerd so I can't quit there.
Avg water temp out of the ground is 58 degrees all year long and that is for water that moves through the pipes. If your average air temp is 25 degrees for several days, then, no matter how much insulation you have your pipe will freeze if you don't run water a bit like a trickle. What insulation will do is keep that 58 degrees and protect it for longer before it freezes. Key is a trickle at your furthest sink all night.

Well did an experiment with the venison. Never have we hung one. Always did ice in cooler, drain water every day and repacked for 7 day, processed day 7 never had a problem. Now with the cooler we hung it at 35degree for 10 days. Came to 10 after reading a couple articles said it was the sweet spot. Well we processed the buck this morning and did grinds, and had to make a burger to test for science, oh my:jellydance::kona: the venison tasted so clean and almost like grass fed beef but richer. Was really tasty.

Down side - It finally stopped snowing so now I have to go shovel.

Up side - I finally get to try out the new snow boots I bought in April.
