I was in Glamis Sand dunes this passed weekend and I hit a few rough bumps and one of them caused me to bottom out in the front end, it wasn’t terribly hard but wasn’t a soft hit either. Everything seemed fine but now that I’m looking I can see the hood on the passenger side is a tiny bit raised, probably less than a quarter inch. Everything else seems to be aligned. Does anyone have a guess on what happened ?

The centrifugal force multiplier combined with the air speed of the tire impacted the UCA which sent that impact into the frame tweaking the hood mount point. If I had to take a guess.

These trucks are capable offroad when all 4 wheels are on the ground while crawling through terrain.

They are not baja purpose-built race vehicles.
Damage will occur when bottoming out hard.

My coworker fixed his misaligned hood with a strategically placed bodyslam...

Your frame wrote a check your body couldn’t cash.

There’s probably more damage you aren’t seeing.

Where is this Glamis mall you speak of? Their curbs sound terrible.

No qualified repair facility will quote a repair without seeing the damage. We cannot tell how wide or narrow a gap caused by damage is without a picture. We ask EVERYONE for a picture.

U might be able to loosen the hood bolts and adjust and retighten. My guess is off roading might have shifted the hood .

Welcome to TW. Most everyone here is a smartass and you will get those remarks. Seriously though, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. My hood is misaligned the other way so maybe I need to get some bumps...

And no, wasn't being serious. Glad you use your truck for what it was made to do...a lot of people here mall crawl their truck and don't take it off paved roads.

Sounds like you’ve never been there and never drove thru the entrance of Oldsmobile hill , all u see is trucks bouncing up and down due to side by sides tearing it up. Catch a bad bounce and you can smack your skid plate if the sand is higher in the middle under the truck
