Hey guys I got a 2020 Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4wd and I want to lift it a bit because I am moving to a snow area and was looking at Bilstein 5100s. I am just looking to understand more about it. I am new to this so any ideas because I do not have a whole lot of money for install and buying but just need suggestions. Thank you!

Worried about snow? I’d look into tires first. Some “snow area” require chains. Also put some weight in the bed.

Not sure about lift for snow?

But in terms of budget lifts, I prefer OME to the Bilstein 5100 setup personally.

I’ve lived in CO for 30 years. You don’t need a lift. A civic is arguably safer and better in snow than a Tacoma.

Get good tires, slow down, and add following distance for snow driving. If you don’t understand what engine braking is, how it works, and when to do it (all deceleration in wet weather), 4WD will only get you into more trouble.

I just saved you $2k minimum, you’re welcome!

Yeah, good snow tires and a healthy dollop of common sense is all you really need. Now if you really just want to lift for the look then that is fine, and you will find a ton of info here on your options and the pros and cons for each

OP,I had a Rough Country 3.5 kit installed Wednesday with 305/50R20 Atturo Trail Blade X/T on Vision Razor 20x12 -51 offset...ill post some pics this afternoon......

Makes the truck more beefier for sure ....I LOVE IT!

No vibrationsat all..only downside is fuel mileage ...was averging 18 to 20 now 15 to 18

    Snow driving priorities

    1. Coat the underside in rustproofing
    2. Good tires
    3. Learn how to drive in the snow

Poor guy just wanted a lift.

This is what happens when one can't bring themselves to say "I want to drop a couple grand on a lift because I've always wanted to drive something that looks like my childhood toys" so they try to hide that emotion behind a thin justification. And here comes us TW goons who will shred that justification.

Just get the lift because you want to waste money on a lift. There's nothing wrong with that.

The 5100 set and AAL pack will lift you nicely on a budget, and drives very well if you keep it at 2" or under. It's also easy to install, and you will save a ton of money if you bolt it on yourself.

The guy is asking for lift references not winter driving references.

OP Research is key. Possible 2” lift kits ( Bilstein , OME , Toytec , Fox , ICON to name a few. What kind of ride are you looking for? Lots of info on here. IMO Stay with 16” or 17” wheel

Not me I wanted a lift for looks...
Always wanted a truck with big wheels and lift & Chrome....

Imo 3.50 is perfect for this truck..a 6" lift just doesn't look right...the body of the Tacoma is to small...

Front: Bilstien 5100 with OME 887 coils.
    Rear: Headstrong AAL with 5100s.
    Optional - JBA UCA

Should be fine to stay on stock UCA with that setup.

Tires that shouldn't rub if you stick with 0 to +4 offset = 265/70/17 or 275/70/17 OR 255/70/17
