I assume that means that the attic is accessible so you could put a junction box up there, pull the existing wiring back to the junction box and extend new wiring to the new receptacle.

Yeah that’s the true proper way I was just trying to avoid pulling the wire back because it’s actually a “middle outlet” where it goes between two rooms. Excuse my mechanical engineering terminology lol. So I’d have to pull it back to two locations and run two long runs of new wire to it, or from outlets it jumps from. I really don’t know where the wiring heads.

Junction box. Marry up 3 wires in box. One to new outlet and one to each of the existing ones in the chain.

I guess you’re saying it’s not long enough to reach the attic? So one wire between the two and one to the new box and nothing in the attic. Junction is inside each of the two receptacle boxes you are keeping.

I know I know I had to go get one lol.

I want to move the outlet in the red circle to the blue circle. I don’t want anything left at the red circle if possible, at least nothing that will show through drywall.

the yellow highlight is the wires, they go up into the attic and they go left and right to outlets located elsewhere because this outlet is in the middle of the chain

2 Choices that both involve drilling under the sill.

Junction box in attic then pull new wires to the new location.
Junction box in the wall and add wires to new outlet.

One puts you in the attic. The other means you'll see a cover plate in the drywall. Pick your poison.

Yeah I knew I’d be drilling through the framing to get to the new outlet was just hoping for a fancy solution that could stay behind the wall for extending the wires.

    I just didn’t know what I didn’t know lol

Understanding you don't want a cover plate remaining at the current location - is there anywhere else on the wall that those existing wires would reach, that you'd be okay with having a cover plate over?

How far away are the two receptacles on either side of this one?

    Again, pic would help.

    Eh not really.

I don’t know for sure without following them in the attic, but I think the one to the left (when looking at the photo) is in the next room over about 10ft from this one, and the one to the other direction I don’t have a clue, I just know the other ones they turn off with the breaker. It’s been a real trial and error in this house finding that info because none of the breakers were labeled.

I would bite the bullet and just run new wires, or as suggested, put that original outlet somewhere the wires reach and run new wire to your new outlet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to code you're not supposed to have any outlet under a window?

Only idea not mentioned, assuming that is an exterior wall, re-orient the box so it’s for outdoor use and put a proper waterproof cover plate on it. Minimal effort, no interior visual impact, added functionality outdoors. I’m guessing you don’t want it that way aesthetically though.

Good idea but there is one already near it’s location outside. That’s a second floor deck behind it, and may be where some of the wiring goes from this outlet, but there is already one and it’s brick I don’t want to deal with anyways haha.

It would need to be GFCI and any down stream receptacles would turn off if the outdoor one tripped.

Why do the other receptacles on the circuit need to be protected if they are all inside and away from water sources?

Does code prohibit a junction in a single gang box feeding line on a single GFCI?
