Maybe although he was at an official toyota event and spoke to the employees that built the truck. My bet is it's an accurate statement for the American market.

When it's on the configurator then it's true. :)

Could it by a regular hybrid and not hybrid max? I’m not sure if others are like it, but the Grand Highlander has hybrid and hybrid max variants.

The Toyota site hasn't changed to reflect a hybrid non-turbo.

He seems well versed but he’s also just free balling about the truck in front of a camera rushed by others lining trying to get their look. Probably just misspoke.

That's definitely not a hybrid ,all hybrids have Iforce max on the hood unless it's the pro or trail hunter

Originally, the max power for each trim was listed on the graphic on Toyota’s website below (has since been reformatted). SR said 270/310 - which would obviously indicate only the autos get the detuned engine. Manual also only available with doublecab on SR.

Makes sense. Thanks for the info! Gives me some hope. I would love an SR MT without the detune.

It seems so strange that they are detuning by 8 HP. What’s the point?

My guess is the 8hp difference between auto/manual just has to do with the ECU mapping and the fact there are two extra gears in the auto. Not gonna be significant esp. considering the manual is probably 50-100lbs lighter weight than the auto tranny.

I am trying to decide if I just get me a sr with the manual, all the info points to tuning on the engine being the same as the TRD trims, but I guess it depends on how much more a base TRD OR is and how much better the ride quality is with the coil rear springs on the TRD’s

It's explained in one of the Hawaii videos with Sheldon the chief engineer. Something about some component in the engine or drive train chattering or something. I can't remember and can't find the video....
