Anyone old enough to remember the old Toyota jingle, "Ohhhhhh what a feeling, to drive Toyota!"

It's been a pretty good week for me. I knew I was near my final note but wasn't keeping track. Anyway, I got a notice in the mail from Toyota Financial that my last note has been paid, and it just capped off a good week.

Its a nice feeling to know that my '06 is still in pristine shape, paid off, and I am relieved of a $460.00/month note. It makes life simple to be debt free and I have more savings to put away.

Also this week, I got a phone call from a manager that I made an annual performance bonus, I cleaned my parent's carport for them, detailed my Mom's new Venza, refurbished their charcoal pit with new parts and BBQ'd for them three times already. (They are 82 years old and can't do this stuff anyomore.) And I am approaching my one year anniversary of returning home to New Orleans, after 28 years away.

Just a really nice week for me, feeling mighty good, and wanted to share.

    Rock on!

You my man are a son any mother or father would be proud to acknowledge. God bless you for recognizing your responsibility to care for the 2 who gave you life and cared for you for so many years. Novel idea in this day and age. I hope you have children (if not get busy) this type of character needs to propagate. Oh ya glad you got the truck paid off too,

Congrats on the pay off Bro ..... it is a good feeling .... like getting a $400 a month pay raise.

My first Toyata truck was an '84 2WD longbed 5 speed .... 116,000 carefree miles .... replaced muffler & tires ... at's it.

DO yourself a favor, take that $460 a month payment you were making and put it into a savings account. In 5 years, you'll be able to buy a new car in cash. You lived without the $460 a month for 4 years, you can make due without for another 4.

Thanks for the comment, but its a real joy to be around them too. Dad's in a wheelchair mostly now, so they don't get out much anymore, and I can see how a visit livens them up instantly. I even got him out there in the carport involved with rehabbing the grill, and watching the beef tenderloin on the grill while I was detailing Mom's car...activities that wouldn't have happened otherwise. I felt like a camp counselor drumming up activities!

And a great time to move back home, and enjoy the interaction with them while they are still around.

Excellent advice, and thank you. My first thought was not to go spend more money on something, but to enjoy the reduced household costs. Makes me appreciate more all the detailing and upkeep I have done to keep the truck in great condition. Although I will say that Monday I am going to a paintless dent repair shop to get a few dings fixed to keep it looking as perfect as possible.
