Has anyone with a 2023 SR done any mods (Fog lights, light bars, lifts, etc.) that required a bit more work than they would on other Tacoma trims? Post pictures! I want to start adding mods to mine and wanna see what’s good

SR,SR5,TRD are all same other than the differential & crawl control . The exterior is 99% same, so same mods go for your SR just as for any TRD pro. Hell you can even buy TRD stickers, change grill and it will look like TRD pro

As stated above, the trucks are mostly the same. Lots of features are even plug and play such as intermittent wipers (unsure if they ever made that standard on the SR). I believe the fogs are too but don't quote me on that.

LED headlights are a bit of a bug. Any trim that does NOT have LED for the daytime run lights needs a special wiring harness. More specialized than TRD that had LED DRL but not LED headlights.

Remember rule #1 ... know what you need modified before you modify it. Full skids (LCA plates, engine/transmission/transfer-case/gas-tank) is overkill for mall-crawling, while a TRD Pro engine skid is probably enough for most people. Sliders are just dead-weight if you do not use them.

As mentioned by @RichochetRabbit the headlights are one of the least easier things to change IMO. Having the DRL and turn tied together can be a challenge to get around. I make a harness to do it, and there are other (some better, some worse) ways to do it though. I think 2023 comes with intermittent wipers and auto headlights now? If not, the wipers are really easy to address. The only other thing would be fog lights, but if you’re prewired or not, changing the stalk is super easy (don’t be intimidated by removing the steering wheel, it is really easy to do). If you aren’t prewired, you can still activate a stand alone relay easy enough from the stalk if you wanted. I am not really sure about mechanical stuff as I never did much with that, but when it comes to electrical, feel free to ask away. I’m not sure that there isn’t too much I haven’t tinkered with or at least looked into at some point on my 2019.

Mindlessly scroll through this thread for hours like I did. Figure out what you want/need for your usage. Currently building mine with the help of this thread and some other individuals on this forum.

Decent wheels and tires will make a big difference.
You can spy an SR a mile away with those wheels.... other than that body-wise it's 99% the same.

So far I’ve done headlight swap, mild lift, tire swap, skid plate, fogs, hood swap on my SR V6, all from scrolling through this forum. Great knowledge in here

I hope you are not counting the mud as a "modification". :p

Like others have said, SR's are almost identical to the other trims. Here's what's done to mine so far:

    Suspension:
    Eibach Stage 1
    JBA Upper Control Arms
    Eibach Rear 1" Block

    Wheels/Tires:
    285/75R16 Yokohama M/T G003
SCS BR6 in Black with White Sticker

    Armor:
    OEM TRD Pro Front Skid

    Exterior:
    Diode Dynamics SS3 Fogs
    Diode Dynamics License Plate LEDs
    Front Chin Removed

The biggest things I've noticed on modding an SR so far:
    * Fog lights - Even though I'm pre-wired, I didn't want to go through the whole process of taking things apart on the interior. So, I took the easy way and just wired the lights straight to the battery on a separate switch.
    * Fuel Tank - Non-TRD Off Road & Pro trims don't have the same tank straps needed to install fuel tank skids from most brands. You have to replace the straps to be able to run the skids.

This build is nowhere near done yet. I'm just getting started haha.
