    Took the center console apart to replace a burned out bulb for the shifter. Any idea what this spring loaded button is for? It may align with the odd latch-switch when it is all put back together.

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    I think that's how you release the shifter to get it in gear if it gets locked in Park.

    Should be in the owners manual.

    It’s the shift lock over-ride button.
    It does just as @Clearwater Bill said
    It lets you shift the gear selector if you loose power to the shift lock ECU.
    Suck as a bad battery, or a bad fuse.
