Well it's gonna be real here tomorrow. Supposed to be near freezing at daylight, 50% humidity and feel like mid 20s with a 10mph N wind. So far this season we've only gotten down into the mid 40s. Will probably bounce if I fall out of the tree with what all I am planning to wear. I know that ain't cold, regularly hunt here in the 20s most years, and that ain't cold for a bunch of you, but that first blow might as well be 0 from the feel of it. I'm gonna saddle up on a finger tree line through an overgrown field doe bedding area that I've saved back for just this time of the season. May get interesting, I hope. I’m taking my Lone Wolf sit and climb to Pennsylvania when I go today . Have not used it in years . Hopefully my back holds up carrying it in . I also have an Alps dash panel , a 3 sided pop up blind for ground hunting . ( in case the back starts acting up )

I'm packing up tonight to head out for a week in the woods chasing Sitka Blacktails, fingers crossed the weather at least mostly cooperates. Kodiak this time of year can throw just about anything at you, wind, rain, snow, cold, etc.

Feeling pretty confident right now after taking my first black bear a couple weeks back. Backpacked in a few miles and then bushwhacked up a mountain to get in to range of a nice fat blueberry bear. Might be the tastiest game meat I've ever had..

Got that call again tonite,oldest son is on the board,bow kill.( Dad,what you doing. just nailed one behind the house. can you come up.)im like yea be there in half an hour. backed out at dark. could hear him thrashing in the thicket. hour later we went in. Blood everywhere. let a 125” 9 go thats young,like 3 1/2. shot the BIG old one he has been seeing. Lord have mercy,scales are out at the lease but every bit of 225+lb. saving a jaw bone to age him.good shot. very proud he still calls me.
