Went out for some drinks and a friend offered to DD. Said they could drive standard and I’m not particularly picky about who drives my truck so I was ok with it. Turns out they had only ever had driven a motorcycle that had a “standard transmission”. Anyway, 5-6 decent gear grinds on the way home. Nothing I can do about it now, but how bad is that? Do you think any of thre dogteeth are flattened/chipped? Surely these things are pretty robust..right?
I literally just changed the gear oil, if the motocraft stuff weren’t so dang expensive I’d be curious to drain it and see what comes out.

As long as you guys weren't drag racing, I'm sure it'll be fine. My 95 tacoma had 150,000mi and plenty of grinding. When I sold it the MT was still shifting fine.

Good on you for arranging a sober driver! That’s most important.

I’d drain it again. Cheap insurance.

If it drives the same as before you'll be fine and I wouldn't sweat it. If you have deep pockets presently then sure, change the oil again. Personally myself, I would just carry on and maybe teach them how to drive for real if I had time.

It's fine. If it's not you'll know and just have to fix it.

You guys are way too nice haha. I would be pissed, personally. I only let a select few of my friends drive my manual cars for this exact reason.

Grind em till you find em! A drain wouldn't hurt just to see what comes out. I'm sure it's fine though
