Hey guys, I installed these new icon rear shocks that are extended travel. The shock mount bushings look crooked, right ? What did I do wrong and how can I fix this? This was the only way I could get them in. Thanks

Seems like that is the direction they are going to go when the leaf springs extend out. whats it look like under a load sitting on the ground?

as a side note, Id be more concerned about those brake lines...

I called icon and showed them and they said it shouldn’t look like that.

I’ll take a picture of the bottom shortly.

and yes I got extended brake lines that I will install once I fix this issue.

    thanks for your help.

edit. Found this pic but I can take more.

With that lower mount being offset I dont see how its NOT going to be kicked like that. Maybe im missing something?

right? That’s what I thought. But icon is saying the bushing shouldn’t be crooked like that. I was hoping someone on here had the same shocks and could show me theirs.

So, you installed the shocks with the nuts slightly snugged and then torqued to spec once the vehicle is on the ground right?

Ok, had to ask cause none of the pictures show the vehicle supported under its own weight on the ground after you performed these steps.

Based on your pics posted, and the ones from Icon's site, yours are angled slightly more than they should be.

I expect it to look closer to the site picture...since you just confirmed you did what was necessary to do.

you’re right. I’ll find some time to take pictures of it on the ground with its weight.

I would just expect the vehicle to settle slightly, but yeah Icon is weird cause their own site shows them slightly angled.

Is the vehicle up again on jack stands just because? Or..?

It’s not. I took those pictures 2 weeks ago when I installed them. Don’t think I took any pics after I had the truck on the ground.

I bet you're good to go.

I'd just go back in and make sure they're still torqued down to spec.

    That looks even better.

Actually reminds me of my 4Runner I used to have; the rear shocks are slightly angled as well and the bushings will "wear" in that manner to fit as needed.

Just needed to retorque things after a month or so but here you can see the angle -

oh wow ok that makes me feel better.

I left the country the day after I installed them and just got back today. I’ll drive them around a bit and retorque.

old thread but yes this is normal. shocks will actually tilt forward as they go through the suspension travel. its exaggerated with rxt icon shocks with the offset lower mount. done to get as much travel as physically possible without a shock relocation kit
