Have to agree. Might be my age speaking but in the past you knew that tacky overlanded out solar octane pro with bolt ons galore was an option and you could still get a relativity normal looking Tacoma with the TRD OF. Now just about every trim looks like that.

I don't know why anyone would want a high display for navigation. It's much safer to look down. If given a choice most people would want their display lower.

I was referring to the Ranger rear headrests.

I’d rather have the screen up high if I’m using it for navigation. I also wish it was off center, closer to the driver. I prefer function over aesthetics. I want my vehicles to be a functional tool rather than a fashion statement.

Since the thread is discussing the backseat storage… it’s a non-issue for me.

I am planning on getting the double cab and will do a total rear seat delete as soon as the aftermarket produces one I like. I don’t plan on getting a hybrid but even if I do there should be room for doggo with some space left over.

Hopefully Diamondback will fast track their HD bedcover for the new trucks. That will take care of any other storage issues.

Wow that’s great for you. Meanwhile the rest of the world has family and friends that use the backseat.

I feel ya bro. It is disappointing they are cutting down the space in the rear. Didn’t mean to rustle any jimmies. I was only joining in on the conversation. :)

Storage is a concern for me too. I have a roll top for the bed now but was thinking about getting the Decked system for the new Tacoma. I don't like how little bed depth there is with the current configuration but the new Tacoma has a deeper bed and that may work for me.

Not just the reduced storage. Replacing the plastic seat back just reeks of another one of Toyotas usual “pay more for less” approach. The again it may be a compromise to fit those seats and keep legroom. The mold of the plastic does add about 1” to the overall seat back.

I was just checking the other midsize trucks and it seems like they all have sone decent storage under the rear seats. Seems like a major fail for Toyota.

I believe the videos said the 4th gen bed gains 1 inch in depth.

Other than more power, I'm struggling to come up with a real reason to trade in my 17 for this. The more I see of the 4th gen, the less I am whelmed by it.

I look forward to seeing some real info on mileage and costs.

Me do. It is hella mo dangerous looking down. The less your eyes move from sightline the safer it is for the rest of us. Those pics of tiny smartphone screens is apples vs oranges. Having just completed a ~ 10K road trip, can't wait for that big ass screen.

Im starting to feel this way as well

Biggest thing I am curious about is MPG and cost. Toyota changing the basic utility of the rear passenger area is a big let down

Seriously.. what a bitch fest this thread has become for a truck not even released yet.

Just like when the 3rd gen got announced, everyone said ‘I’m buying a 2nd gen since it’s the last real Tacoma’ we have the same people saying that about the 3rd gen.

Like, the majority of us are getting the non hybrid right? Watch one of the million videos on YouTube and you’ll see there are floor compartments on the non hybrids. So your storage is there for all your garbage. Obviously batteries for a hybrid will take up space so it has to go somewhere. Apparently, this group thinks Toyota should have put the batteries on the roof.

Or they could have used a little bit of creativity and put the battery between the frame rails and kept the underseat storage. Instead they take the battery and throw it under the seat because that’s the simplest thing to do. It seems like this truck was designed by interns.

Between the frame. There’s already a gas tank and spare tire down there.
