I think I’m in the right area….actually, I have no idea. This was around the muffler on the passenger side. If this isn’t right, lemme know where I need to go and I will go grab updated pics.

the photo I posted is on the passenger side right under where the door "tacoma" badge is looking forward. there is a boxed section there that has a plastic "flap" covering it that is easily moved/bent out of the way without causing any damage. the picture is of the inside of the boxed section. this is one of the biggest rust out sections on the truck. thanks again.

For what it’s worth, I think that frame looks pretty good for an 09

thats the spot, and yes hard to tell with the treatment you used. but I think I can tell that you frame is cleaner to the one im looking at. at the very least the one im looking at seems to be starting if not progressing with internal rust in that section.

Keep in mind mine is a 2015 so it’s a decent amount newer. I do agree that the one you’re looking at looks to be starting to rust but I think all of them in that age will have some degree of rust.

Definitely a trouble spot, mine rotted badly on the outside rail there. Pics in my album, it started as big enough to insert a 15mm socket and pushing on it with 2 fingers caved it in to a 1x2 inch hole

Couple of your pictures show some of the frame delaminating a bit, clean it up and keep it coated and you should be fine.
