    I have had a rattle at low rpms up a slight incline growing louder each day; my initial thought was it may be Cali Raised cat shield. My truck has 4000 miles on it. I purchased the shields this year around 2000 miles and have not noticed it until now. Where did you place your spacers?

    No spacers. CaliRaisedLED reengineered their cat shields to address the noise and the driver-side cat contacting the shield. They replaced the original cat shields they sent me with "V2".

    If you have the "old" shields you'll need to contact CaliRaisedLED to get replacements. Per my earlier post, more here:

    So I looked under the truck and drivers side is definitely making contact- I noticed this when I installed them as well- there are clear rubbing marks. That would conclude they are V.1, correct? The last photo is of a temporary fix to see if this is the cause of the vibration noise; just enough zip ties to pull the shield away from the cat. I know these won't last long but I have not yet heard back from Cali Raised and the first set of shields took 6 weeks or more to receive, I will likely get some metal zip ties at a later time as I do not currently have the tools to take the shield of completely -which I would prefer as I do not know the long term impacts this issue may pose. I hope these photos are enough for them to help me out. I will keep posted.

    Those are the V1 shields as they go over the tranny crossbar. If you're going the zip tie route till the new set arrives then use some metal zip ties.

    That's the plan, I'm just hoping the plastic ones will work long enough to help me determine if the vibration noise is actually coming from the shield first, after which I will apply some metal ties until I can-hopefully- get the help from Cali Raised to send the new version.

    Should i be worried about the damage these have caused thus far? It appears to be only minor rubbing on the Cat Shield cover itself.

    Yes, per @MTBTACORN those are the original v1 designs. The v2 are actually easier to install. As I mentioned in my other post, I only replaced the driver's side shield. The passenger side doesn't touch the cat and doesn't make any noise. Photo of the v2 shields below another member posted.

    I wouldn't worry too much about the scuffs on the cat. Over a few years there would probably be an issue, but for now and until you install the new shield it should be fine.

    If you don't hear back from @CaliRaisedLed in a few days, I'd give them a call. They came through for me pretty quickly. I think I received the replacements in about two weeks.

    Follow up; definitely the vibration I am hearing. Plastic zip ties worked; buying metal.

    @TRDRed thanks for your input in this thread :thumbsup:

    I researched them ALL & decided on the CaliRaised shields & they're right up the freeway from me, so bonus!
    I finally got around to installing them this am;

    I received a set of the V1 cat guards back in December or January. I noticed contact with the cat right away but finished the install. I did notice some vibration mostly at low RPM. Finally I contacted CaliRaised and filled out their form on Sept 13. Today I got a new set of cat guards no charge. I'll probably install this weekend, but I want to say great job on their customer service, their desire to make a good product and take care of customers. Sure this was kind of an engineering oops. I've been in engineering for a long time, and now technical customer support for a machine builder so I know the drill. They did what they had to do to make it right.

    I like it, what gauge of stainless steel did you use? So I can do mine as well

    @CaliRaisedLed I have a question. I bought a set of the cat shields for myself and one for a buddy. Well, before he had a chance to install them he had to move to a vehicle with a larger cab than his access cab Taco. So, will the cat shields he has work on a 2018 SR5 4Runner? If not, he is wondering if he can possibly exchange them, new in box, for 4Runner cat shields?
