    Thanks. You are more than likely spot on. I should know the history better, or look it up - when I forget. Foggily - The name change was driven by Pennzoil with a Z.............some kind of rights to the use of the Z. Check my memory!

    Exactly. Pennzoil sued Amsoil for using a "z" in the name. He used it because -AmatuZio-. So he had to change it to an "s".
    And it was even more asinine of Pennzoil to do that because they didn't have a synthetic oil on the market in 1970 to be confused with.

    I can’t believe I’m typing this, but I’m considering the 5 gallon size. @Pablo8 is there a limited lifespan on the 75-110 or does it handle sitting in a bucket for years just fine?

    Easy 5 years. Near 10 if kept at reasonable temps and dry. Just turn upside/mix if more than a few years.

    As long as there is no water or bug infestation long long time. Think of people who never change diff oil.

    First post has it.

    My current thoughts are, how bad is it to do the 5 gallon bucket and use it for both rear and front? And if that's "ok" do I pick the 75-110 rear diff for the bucket or is the 75-90 a better all-arounder.

    We use the same 75, 85 or 7590 in the front t case and rear. Also works in a manual as well. Granted it is the Toyota oil but... Haven't had anybody come back with complaints or problems. And my stuff works great. Lol
    So I say get the big bucket and use it for everything.

    Overly low viscosity fluids for EPA MPG. They work OK.

    The original recommendation a ways back was in the realm of 17cSt (around the upper end of a new
    $26 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75W-90). People do use 75W-90.

    The synthetic MTF aims for the sweet spot, good gear protection, excellent quick engagement and function with no loss in MPG.

    Can confirm, I credit Amsoil to a big portion of my fuel economy and internal parts being in good shape.

    Only reason I'm currently running Toyota/Mobile (Toyota bulk is mobile one) is that I work at a dealership and have cheap access :anonymous:

    If/when I get a better job, I'll be back to Amsoil :D
